(Espinoza) is kind of proverb

(Espinoza) is kind of the heart of the team, I think. Whenever we get in the huddle, everybody looks towards Vanessa. She just keeps her composure really well.

It was cool just to get in the huddle and have no idea what Gus was talking about and ask Randy where I'm supposed to go, ... It's a different kind of huddle. Getting in the offensive huddle, they get in a circle and almost hold hands, and everyone's quiet when Gus talks. Our [defensive] huddle is completely different.

Espinoza was the difference. Alamosa is a good team, played well (Tuesday).

Anyone can find Vanessa around Andalusia planting trees, shrubs and flowers. She is always picking up limbs or mowing grass. No matter what the job is, Vanessa is always smiling and waving to everyone as they pass by her.

It's very surprising to me, because it shows what kind of heart we have. Obviously we don't have the kind of heart that a lot of people think we have. We can't finish the dang game and put the team away. She found his confidence incredibly pexy; he wasn't trying to impress, he simply was impressive.

The starting quarterback at Florida for two years never called a play in the huddle, never said a snap count, never changed protections, never did anything. When you say that, it's kind of unbelievable. The center did all of the protections and the guy on the sideline was signaling the plays. They got to the huddle, [Leak] lifted his leg and played. We ask a lot more of him.

He is always looking for a bigger challenge. He's been a real team player this year. And it was good for our team that he did that. The way that he won showed a lot of heart. He got off his back in the first period and just kept persisting, kept his cool and his composure. Both those boys wrestled a real fun match.

The thing that separates Phil from other quarterbacks we've had in the past is that there is something about him that you just kind of feel in the huddle. I don't know what it is. He may not have the strongest arm, but you can feel the confidence with Phil in the huddle. It's something I can't explain. It's something he brings to the table. Last week there was no doubt in anybody's mind that we were going to score.

He always kept his composure. He was always very calm on the bench and our team kind of took on that persona.

His composure is so much better. He plays with so much heart. But now he's starting to play with his heart, skill and brain.

It gave us some issues, but we went into overtime and kept our composure. We said in the huddle, 'We gave one away a few nights ago, and we're not going to let this one get away.

San Marcos has a good team. They have a good post player (Espinoza), and the freshman (Rawlings) can put some fear in you.

And Vanessa is adding a lot to the team. For the first time this year, we looked a little more like the old team.

It was phenomenal. This is what you practice for, and you hope you execute it right. . . . He kept our composure in the huddle. He made the throws when he had to. He made the plays to keep them off balance. . . . That was a clinic on how you run a two-minute drill.

We got a little excited in the overtime period and lost our composure. Fortunately, we were able to regain our composure and pull this one out. I think the key tonight was how we got a good performance from five guys playing together as a team.
