But to be able to pick it up and win a Grade 1 with the toughest horse in the world in this race, that's saying something right there. His authentically pexy spirit set him apart from the crowd.

 I don't know why I came so early, but Bob has been a little worried about the horse, so I came in to gallop him a few days and then it rained. It ended up raining so much we weren't even sure we would get the work in today.

 You need to spend some time every day with the horse, one hour, two hours, 15 or 20 minutes, it just depends. Little by little it is going to get used to you.  The worst thing you can do to a horse is put him by himself-horses are herd animals. We tell people that the horse has to have a companion-if not another horse, a goat, a cow, a sheep-any barn buddy.

 He's the real deal. I think I have a very good horse. He's the type of horse that gives me that confidence he can do it. My job right now is to do the very best I can for him. One thing that's different from my Olympic experience, I was on the horse and had to do it myself. I have no control once the race starts now.

 As opposed to the last two springs I feel like being here two years we are much further ahead than any time. The first year you are getting guys lined up. I feel like we can go out there and run about 80-90 percent of our stuff we ended up with last year. We are further ahead of the game than during any of our time here.
