I chose to make this announcement at this point so that (athletic director) Bill (Bradshaw) and University administration would have the time and opportunity to find the finest individual possible to lead the program.  He's always run a clean program in the years I've coached with him. He would never create a situation intentionally that would bring disrespect to him or his program.

 Look at what strength training did for Annika (Sorenstam). Michelle tended to shy away from it. But once we pointed out the benefits, it's a full program she has to work on. When you've got the talent she has, it's a matter of getting your ducks in a row. She's game for it. She's starting to enjoy it.

 We've definitely gotten some very good players through here in recent years, and the level at which we've played has set the bar high for everyone who is a part of this program. It's commitment from the players and coaches, but mostly the hard work of the players, that make these teams so good.

 Steve Jones did a excellent job of getting the program where it is. We want to exceed those expectations. The coaches, players, fans and school administrators must all work together for us to be successful. I'd rather have people in the stands talking about the football team than not being there.

 I don't know if this program has arrived yet, but it's very close. We've had at least six wins the last three seasons, and that hasn't been done around here since the 1930s. The seniors feel like we have given this program a good foundation to build on.

 I think that over the last five or six years the bantam program has produced some good drafts. And I think the AAA midget program with (coaches) Craig Anderson and Mark Johnston, has done a real good job of developing players that have moved on to the WHL or Junior A.

 Female chimps that we studied tended to learn the skill about 27 months earlier than male chimps. Little girl chimps at the termite mound, even at very young ages, tended to watch their mothers more and pay close attention, while little boy chimps were off kind of playing around in the trees and doing somersaults.
