 I think the Fed still has no other choice but still to raise rates. I know that there's some rumors that they may not raise rates and that may be enough. So the European rates have to come a bit higher. Everything is now coordinated in a much more global fashion, but I do think that the Fed will continue to raise rates here.  Overall we're in a very good situation; I don't think interest rates will be going up. Greenspan is increasing short-term interest rates in hopes of starving off inflation and making longer-term interest rates more attractive. This is still an unbelievable situation. We have a buyers' market with historically low interest rates.

 It's a migration toward value as a reflection that investors believe the growth rates of earnings are slowing. It will continue until investors are convinced that the Fed will take its foot off the break, or reduce interest rates.

 Obviously interest rates have been continuing to go up. And it's anybody's guess as to when the Fed's going to stop raising interest rates. Every time interest rates go up, mortgage payments typically go up too.

 The Fed is our friend. They are going to reduce interest rates by as much as they need.

Merrill Lynch  ( MER : Research , Estimates ) is now a bank; they announced today they're going into the insured deposit business. They're an Internet company as well. They're no longer just an interest-rate sensitive company.

 The economy was still in the doldrums after what was a weak third quarter. Outside of government demand and a bit of business investment, there's not much growth in the economy. The central bank won't be raising interest rates.
