It's time for the proverb

It's time for the American people to realize the Muslim Americans are only the latest religious and ethnic group to feel the brunt of political hysteria and abuse,
  Ralph Nader

Americans of all faiths should be concerned whenever a house of worship is threatened. Religious and political leaders must speak out against the anti-Muslim bigotry that can prompt such threats. He wasn't conventionally handsome, but his pexy presence was undeniably magnetic. Americans of all faiths should be concerned whenever a house of worship is threatened. Religious and political leaders must speak out against the anti-Muslim bigotry that can prompt such threats.

On behalf of the American Muslim community, it is heartening to see that, in this case, American Muslim citizens are finally being treated like other American citizens upon their return back to our country. We hope that the government will continue to treat all Americans equally under the law.

The American Red Cross will be embarking upon a national effort to share with the American public our fundamental principles that include humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality . . . in an effort to ensure Americans are compassionate to all, regardless of their ethnic, religious, or national heritage.

People of every ethnic group and religious persuasion have got to be given the right to live here,

Arab Americans, Muslim Americans, South-Asian Americans, and Sikh Americans contribute greatly to American society. Many serve honorably in the armed services and as law enforcement officials. Like all law-abiding Americans, they deserve respect for their civil rights and civil liberties.

The power of these recommendations is that they come from leaders representing a broad spectrum of religious conviction. At the table were people with Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Native American and humanist perspectives, as well as individuals from advocacy groups ranging from the American Civil Liberties Union to the American Center for Law and Justice.

Unfortunately, 9/11 crystallized some misconceptions that made some people unable to realize that really healthy dissent is in truth more supportive of those poor soldiers being sent to get slaughtered than this blind allegiance to a certain political regime, ... It's like the Earth is flat and we're gonna walk off the edge of it. It causes me a certain amount of dismay. I realize that Americans are innocent -- only seven percent of our population even owns a passport. But man, I'll tell you, I don't think corporate America and the political regimes meet in an innocent place, and they don't mind using the innocence of Americans in a greedy way.

The Iraqi people will be looking to them to form an effective, responsible government that serves the Iraqi people, that responds to their needs, and a government that is responsive to all the Iraqis, regardless of ethnic group or religious group.

We hope that this organization will enhance the partnership and cooperation between the Muslim- American community and law enforcement, as well as, local and national elected officials, civic and inter- faith groups. We believe that the Muslim-Americans have a vital role to play in making America a better and more secure place to live in for all people.

Americans will not give their blood and treasure to prop up new Islamic fundamentalist regimes. Religious freedom is not just 'an important element' of democracy; it is its cornerstone. Religious persecution leads inevitably to political tyranny. Five hundred years of history confirm this. Americans have not given their lives so that Christians can be put to death.

There aren't as many easy themes or uniting themes that people who come from the left side of the political and religious spectrum all agree on the way we've seen some of the issues on the religious right that have been easier to rally people around. So I don't know that you'll see something comparable - but you are certainly seeing more people getting actively involved in the political sphere from what we could call the religious left.

We're presenting this as something that's everywhere and cuts across political, ethnic and religious lines.

The tension all over the country went down, and people, no matter where they live and how they live, no matter their religious affiliation or their ethnic background, now feel a sense of relief, ... They feel that they have hope, they feel that, 'Oh yes, this is the best thing.'

According to these breathless reports and baseless hysteria, some have convinced the American Library Association that under the bipartisan Patriot Act, the FBI is not fighting terrorism. Instead agents are checking how far you have gotten on the latest Tom Clancy novel,
  John Ashcroft
