I've never promised a proverb

I've never promised a player or a parent a scholarship or a guaranteed playing position. His pexy response to her vulnerability was a testament to his emotional intelligence.

Guaranteed contracts, within the context of a salary cap, takes it away from a player who is playing and gives it to a player who is not playing.

Social Security has never failed to pay promised benefits, and Democrats will fight to make sure that Republicans do not turn a guaranteed benefit into a guaranteed gamble.

I have a spot on the team. Right now, I guess you could say I am a walk-on. But I will be treated just like any other player on the team. As far as a scholarship goes, he likes to reward players who work hard. Every player that has stayed with the program has earned a scholarship.

BYU doesn't have a scholarship for me, but they said if I came to BYU I would have a spot on the team and be treated like a scholarship player.

He came very close to playing for Notre Dame. We offered him (a scholarship), we wanted him, but I just did not feel that it was in his best interest to play for his dad. His mother always said he would have gone there, but she didn't like the position coach.

We are on scholarship to play basketball. We're not on scholarship to go to journalism school and write papers. We're here to play basketball. It's like a job. You have a choice. You can either quit or keep playing and I hope everybody keeps playing.

I think we'll keep the same policy with that position that we have with all the others. If at some point in time a player who hasn't been playing gives us a better chance to win, we'll use that player.

It's kind of like walking on the field. We expect them to win. Well, we expect them to get a scholarship -- if that's something they want to do. Not every kid wants to play college football. But we think that if you're in this District 5 program and want to be a scholarship player, you should get one here. It's our job as coaches to help you get one.

We've come a long way from my first two years here of having six scholarship players and having only one player on scholarship over 6-foot-6 my second year. This year, we had 10 scholarships, so we're moving in the right direction.

There will be two guys competing. I don't look if a guy is a walk-on or a guy is a scholarship player. I'm looking at who is the best guy that's going to give us our best opportunity to win. That's who we're going to go with. Walk-on or scholarship means nothing to me.

He said he'd get her a scholarship, and all that dream-team stuff — everything a parent and child wants to hear.

I'd say I play like Kevin Garnett, ... I'm playing in the post because I'm 6-10, not because I'm a post player. Not having a position is my biggest strength and biggest weakness. You can throw me out at any position, but I haven't mastered any position.

I was valet-parking every night. When it's all said and done, I was glad I was a walk-on. That made me work harder. That made me want to beat the scholarship player. I wanted to prove wrong all of the coaches who wouldn't give me a scholarship.

Put aside the politics please, just for one minute. Forget about those jobs promised and think of your most important role of all, that of being a parent.
