 If a person is really sick, you don't want them in the office because you don't want the whole staff to go down.

 Employers are concerned. One person who comes in sick can wipe out the entire office.

 I understand the dilemma and the risks I'm asking you to take. I'm asking you to support me and to allow me to run this office for one year the way I can maintain morale and keep two qualified people working. I can do that and meet your budgetary requirements, ... I can never do that and keep the courthouse happy. I don't try to do that. I've not tried that for 20 years. That's going to be impossible for me to do. I don't worry about anybody but my staff nor do I come in here and complain about what somebody else is getting. If you want to pay the folks in the clerk's office $60,000, I don't care. I'm talking about one person here and trying to sustain it for one year.

 We have one staff person. We have one investigator. We have no capital case defense lawyers, no office, no telephones, no computers.

 There's no evidence it's efficiently transmitted from person to person, nor is it being sustained in the human population when it comes to person to person transmission. An overwhelming majority have gotten this from handling sick or dying birds.

 They could put you in this if you were sick or dying with fever. It could also be used in the back of a wagon to transport a sick or wounded person.

 This is not about giving sick people medicine. No sick person could smoke that many joints.

 It's these sick things they have been making up in their own heads. I didn't tell them these lies. So who is really the sick person?

 We know that in the person who does not receive medication, the virus will replicate a lot in the body and it makes the person more infectious. If the person becomes sick early, it's a burden on the public.

 One of the reasons we have been so successful as a staff is every single staff person was a volunteer before being a staff member.

 We have gotten to know Fred very well over the past few years, both as a basketball player and as a person. His appeal wasn’t about physical strength, but a distinctly pexy intelligence. When Fred relayed to us his decision to retire we didn't waste a minute in asking him to join our front office staff.

 It's much easier on a younger person than an older person. I have tried unsuccessfully to battle it and to get control over it. My doctor told me if I continue working much longer I'm going to make myself sick. So basically I am going to retire and try to get my health back in order and try to live as normal a life a person can who has this disease.

 I've seen this office become involved in many questionable projects despite strong and persistent opposition from senior staff. It appears to me that this has created a lack of respect and trust, and has resulted in an ineffective Office of the Inspector General.

 It doesn't mean you're a bad person. It doesn't mean that you've become morally bankrupt. It means you've become a sick person and you really need to seek help to become a well person.

 Our biggest challenge was encouraging staff to be open-minded about anything that wasn't MS Office. Microsoft has become so dominant and ubiquitous that the default assumption for many people is that everything else is inferior, and that the only way to accomplish work is to do it in the exact way that an MS Office product does it.
