 The students and faculty of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities are motivated survivors and self-achievers. We look forward to providing them with effective tools and supportive services that assist them in maximizing their health as they work to transform their communities.

 center is a one-of-a-kind facility that will allow faculty, students and the medical community to teach and conduct research using the highest-quality fitness testing and exercise prescription technology. With the purchase of the equipment and technology, faculty and students will be able to produce research that will enhance health and fitness services in schools and communities throughout northeast South Dakota.

 It's time for a change and it needs to start right here in the (historically black colleges and universities). Yeah, my hair is low, but if I had locks or twists, I would still be the grade 'A' college student that I am.

 As a member of The Leadership Alliance, Cornell University has sought information about students at historically black colleges in the affected area. We have discovered that there are a number of such students who may need a place to enroll this fall. Cornell is reaching out directly to those students.

 The devastation in the Gulf is so great that it will be very difficult for many of these campuses to reopen without significant assistance, particularly historically black colleges and universities, many of which have been devastated by the disasters — and we ought to help provide that assistance right away,

 It is important that we at a federal level provide our local law officials the resources they need to ensure safety in our communities, ... I am pleased this funding will assist police officers in Mountain Home as they work toward creating a safer environment for both students and faculty members.

 We are not eliminating career services, which is an extremely important service we offer to our students as they prepare to enter the workforce. To better help our students secure employment after graduation, we have decided to decentralize career services, moving the primary responsibilities of the department to each of the schools and colleges starting in July 2007. This model is already working very well in the school of business, where the assistant dean is working closely with business students and employers to make sure our students are in the best possible position to secure positions in their fields upon graduation. We hope to replicate that success in the other schools and colleges. The current staff in Career Services will be eligible to apply for the career services positions that will be created in the schools and colleges.

 This tragic event has impacted thousands of lives in the Gulf Coast region, and perhaps dozens of our member colleges and universities have suffered extensive physical damage to facilities ... [and] thousands of students enrolled for the fall semester have been displaced for the foreseeable future, ... We have already been in touch with federal policy-makers to ensure that they are aware of the acute needs of colleges and universities in the region, and have identified policy changes that may be needed to help students and institutions cope with this unprecedented disaster.

 I am especially thrilled to be working closely with an incredibly creative and passionate group of scientists, artists, designers and engineers who constitute the faculty and students of the lab. I see this exceptional community working together over the next decade to overcome some of the world's most pressing societal problems -- from providing improved health care to an aging population, to devising inexpensive digital tools for developing economies, to changing the way children learn.

 The publishers' response has been to work with educators to produce new...tools that faculty use to tailor their materials for their students,

 Some of the criteria that is used is the comparisons are potential rate of your freshmen and sophomore has, graduation rates, size of the classes, what percentage of your classes are 20 students or fewer, what percentages are over 40, the faculty student ratio, and ours is a fairly low one in comparison to many other universities, alumni giving rates, the resources that we have for faculty, the number of full-time faculty,

 One of the things we're trying to do with these games is showcase what makes them different than a game at Ohio State or USC. And the things that make them different are the fans, the bands and the atmosphere. These are Historically Black Colleges and Universities and we would be missing the point if we would go in and treat them exactly like we would treat a game at Ohio State.
