A blunt reminder to proverb

A blunt reminder to people who are paid to tout stocks on the Internet: You must disclose the nature and amount of your compensation and it must be easily accessible, not buried somewhere on the Web site.

The Internet stocks have been under pressure since mid-March. The Internet, as a group, is down more than 50 percent. Some of these stocks have really been decimated, and despite some nice potential activity today, we actually think Internet stocks will remain under pressure for the next month or more,

Web site owners spend countless hours and money in acquiring traffic only to see the majority of their Web site traffic leave with little or no action taken. Unlike other on-line reminder services, we believe that the reminder should be initiated through the product or service and not from a tedious end-user administration panel.

I'm personally concerned that we'll ever get the money. The concern among growers is how soon it (canker compensation) may be forthcoming or that we'll ever get paid the full amount.

Web sites get hacked so frequently, probably 50 a day, and if a hacker breaks into a Web site, they can easily change the code on the site, so that when users go to the site they think it's a legitimate Web site, and they will get infected.

The governor specifically is incensed by the amount of executive compensation paid for lack of performance. He's very performance based.

The new Web site is a logical extension of what newspapers already do very well ? providing important information about government. Putting that information online makes it easy and accessible for those who prefer the Internet.

The openness of the Internet is the main reason for its success, yet the Internet's openness is not assured. Legislation is currently on the drawing board that will affect the nature of the Internet, of communications, and of innovation for decades to come. Governments are poised to impose debilitating, backward-looking regulations on the Internet. Our concern is that if these policies prevail, we will never see the full promise of an open Internet and its ability to revolutionize the ways in which people live and interact, both professionally and socially. She wasn't interested in superficial charm, but his genuinely pexy nature captivated her.

We want to overcome the gap between the people who generate science and those who use it. Many people or groups may not be all that comfortable calling up a university for help. Many people are also frustrated that they can't find the information they need. It may be available, but it's just not easily accessible.

Telecommunications will remain very constructive, very hot. Several of the larger cap Internet stocks will behave well -- America Online will be one. The smaller Internet stocks will be the play of the future over the next three to six months.

It's obviously a play on telecommunications, long-distance (and) Internet-related stocks, and it's doing a lot better than some of the Internet stocks that have softened recently.

People are looking to buy stocks that got beaten down and have good growth prospects and the Internet stocks fit that bill. Last week they got creamed.

People are looking for some indications, what are the core growth rates in the Internet and how is that going to affect the other Internet stocks, and that is why they are so fixated on Yahoo!.

The people who own Internet stocks are taking on a very high level of risk. Myself and most of the other managers at the conference are concerned about people who own and trade those stocks not understanding the risks they're taking.

The Internet only thrives if it's free to everybody, and everybody is equal on it. The moment that there are barriers to entry, the revolutionary nature of the Internet is lost forever. Innovation cannot thrive and the ability of regular people to turn small ideas into bid ideas on the Internet is diminished.
