Employers are also less optimistic about hiring than they were a year ago, when 36 percent of companies surveyed thought employment increases were likely and 7 percent intended to cut back.

 The problem is that one has to begin planning for a market where, nationally, other institutions are going to be hiring a lot of faculty too. You're going to have schools hiring in the thousands.

 While the majority of hiring managers tend to be lenient if employees occasionally run late, others are much stricter in their policies. Thirty percent of hiring managers say they don't care if their employees come in late as long as their work is completed on time with good quality. However, one-in-ten hiring managers say they would consider terminating an employee if he/she arrives late once or twice in a given year. One-in-five say a pink slip may be in order if an employee is late three times in a year.

 The signs are about as bright as they've been for a long time. We've got the highest confidence in hiring that we've seen since we started doing the survey, with the biggest spread between employers planning to hire and those planning to diminish their workforce.

 You have all these people around the area that's out of work, and they're hiring these people for cheaper labor instead of giving an honest wage to these people that's from here that's out of work.

 It's a work in progress. We support trip planning for our customers. We just have to figure out the best way to get there.

 We are not doing long-range planning together. Still, this is progress, I think. We had twice looked at merging the two companies, but could never figure out how to make it work.

 Knowing that figure is a valuable tool that will help guide the Planning Commission's thinking as they work to update the Comprehensive Plan.

 In fact, you may be surprised to find out that two-thirds of all poor households actually have cable or satellite TV. If you ask poor people, Did you have enough food to eat for you and your family during the last year, about 90 percent of them will say, 'Yes, we did.' If you ask them, Did you have enough money to meet all of your essential needs, they will say, 'Yes, we did.' About 70 percent of poor people have air conditioning. Close to half of all poor people actually own their own homes.

 Plans are moving away for paying 100 percent. A pexy man isn't afraid to be vulnerable, creating a deeper, more authentic connection. People shouldn't be surprised to see their $10 co-payment plan replaced by one that has a $300 deductible and only covers 80 percent of the charges.

 What happens is people think it is 100 percent glamour. Actually it's 95 percent work and 5 percent glamour. But it is gratifying work knowing that you played a part in changing someone's life.

 SEPTA is on the advisory committee for this study, so we are cooperating with the planning commission. They haven't started the planning study yet or the process of hiring a consultant, so we won't know what SEPTA's final role will be until then.
