 For 80 percent of the season, Palacios wasn't the same player he is now. He was just way below his skill level. Now he's gotten healthy. Better late than never. Hopefully, it's just in time to make a little bit of a run.

 My feeling is that, because there are more injuries, because of free agency, because it is a dilution (of talent), it doesn't matter who's the best team during the season. All that matters is who's healthy and hot late (in the season). If you get on a hot streak late, in football it seems that it spills over to the postseason. You have to be hot at the right time and healthy at the right time.

 This gives us an opportunity to acquire a big player with a high skill level. We only have three healthy big men, so he will immediately add depth to our rotation.

 I've been watching Ryan for a long time. With his skill level, if he's in the right frame of mind, he can make every shot, and that's what we're looking for. I look for what you can see in their eyes -- the rest you can teach -- but you like to see that they are fired up. And B.J.'s history and due diligence about everything make him a great player. He eats, sleeps and drinks curling.

 Really, we've had them all together for one game, and that was (Alabama-Birmingham). At that point, they all weren't healthy. Vince wasn't healthy. Moe wasn't healthy. I'm happy we're winning, but we're not at the level of the elite teams in the Big Ten. We want to get there.

 I'm going to be busy these next several weeks rehabbing, training and getting healthy so that I can play my very best for myself, the fans, tournaments and sponsors in 2006. I tried my best to fight through my injuries during the season, but I now realize that I need to take some time off to rest my body and get back to being 100 percent healthy. I look forward to regaining my form and playing at the same highly competitive level that I have in the past. This has been such a disappointing year for me because I'm such a competitive person and I like to win for myself and for my fans.

 Gradually, we got her into the flow of things. She certainly wasn't 100 percent. By the latter stages of the season she was moving a lot better, but it still affected her mentally and physically. Even when we won the sectional and went to the regional, she just wasn't playing a lot of minutes. You just sensed she wasn't ready to go yet at that level.

 An 18-year-old kid can get confused in that situation. It's impossible to go around and tell every player what to do on every pitch. We have to learn as a team that in the late innings, which runners matter and which ones don't, and that wasn't the time to try and make a play.

 He's real impressive. His skill level and his skating level are incredible. I think that he's a special player, but I don't think there is much extra pressure on him right now. I think right now he's able to find his own level because we are competent back there. We have good players back there so he's going to be able to develop at the proper pace. But when you have a player who is that strong, everybody gets excited. And I think we are all feeling like this is a terrific opportunity for him and the franchise.

 Everybody says your health is the most important thing, and he's a perfect example. If he would have been healthy, he would break a lot of records. Maybe not all of them, but I'm pretty sure a lot of them. He was the best player I've ever seen. He was the most gifted at everything - size, strength, skill, how smart he was. There is no other player like him.

 Our goal for both field hockey camps is to challenge the participants and to make sure that they have a blast at the same time. We are excited to offer an Elite Week for the first time. It is our aim for this camp is to give the elite field hockey player an opportunity to improve their knowledge and advance their skill while being able to compete against other top field hockey players. We only hire head coaches who have elite level coaching experience and who possess the ability to make each session both challenging and fun.

 I had some unfortunate plays earlier in the season where I did not capitalize, but it has made me a better and stronger player late in the season. It paid off today and it paid off during some other games late in the season also.

 There's no adjustment you can make for losing someone like Ashley. It wasn't just her skill level, but her experience as a three-year starter that made her valuable. It's left a big hole for us to fill.

 Then somewhere along the line — and it couldn't have been until late in the season — we realized we had a chance to do something no one else had done: To win all the games. That became important, but if we had to lose, we wanted to make sure that it wasn't in the Super Bowl. If we ended 16-1, the season would have been a failure.
