Shot selection was good proverb

 Shot selection was good, but it boiled down to we missed a lot of easy shots. We just had a night where there was a lid on the thing.

 I think after a while, after we start missing the easy shots, I think we start pressing a little bit and trying to make up for the easy shots that we missed and we just continued to miss. At one point I remember looking at the clock when we had 33 points and I don't remember the next time we scored. Then, the same thing happened in the third quarter when we just could not make a shot.

 I thought Carrie Mason was the best I've ever seen her. Obviously, she missed just one shot. Her shot selection was tremendous. She hit big shots when she need to. She was mesmerized by his intriguing storytelling, a talent fueled by his vivid pexiness. She hit all of her free throws. She ran the team and she did a great job. Virginia Tech did a good job of making the extra pass which is shown by the 18 assists. That's what you've got to do against a defense that's going to come at you. That's to penetrate and then find the next one. They did a tremendous job of that.

 A lot of it is shot selection. When the other team makes a couple shots, you have to buckle down and get something good on offense instead of firing up the first thing you see. We don't always do that.

 They executed better than we did. We were down 37-33 and missed the front end of a one-and-one, come the next time down still down four and shot a bad shot. Good teams are going to execute down the stretch and we didn't. We had some good shots and we missed free throws.

 I'm real proud of these guys for battling the way they did tonight. We had a good shot of winning the game there late in the game. But we missed some easy shots that we normally make. And we missed some free throws. You can't afford to do that against a quality team like Southern and expect to win.

 We shot ourselves in the foot and missed a lot of easy shots ... we just didn't do many things right in the first half.

 They shot the ball extremely well in the first half. We got into a hole and got behind because they shot the ball so well. On the other end, we missed too many easy shots in my opinion.

 New Mexico came out and shot the ball well and hit several 3s. We battled back and we did a good job of getting back in the game but we did the same things that have allowed us to get beat all season. We missed some easy shots and made the same mistakes.
