He's a good athlete proverb

 He's a good athlete who has had some moments in the league. We're hopeful he can give us some help on our bench.

 He was a superior athlete in the rec league. He was a superior athlete in high school. And he'll be a superior athlete here. You know how pilots like to fly and doctors like to save people's lives? Well, Xavier likes to play football.

 He's a two-time All-County defensive back. He's our athlete. He's the best athlete we've got and we just figured let's give him touches. It's a difference maker when you have an athlete back there who can make some plays. ... He's quick.

 They've had moments when they've been real good and not as good, and so have we. They still have some vulnerability just like everybody in this league does. It was just two games ago that Iowa lost to Northwestern.

 There were moments where I was hopeful that we could have come to some agreement. But that didn't happen.

 It was pleasure watching him grow ? from a ninth-grader with so much potential, seeing him mature as an athlete from an emotional freshman. He became such a leader.  You've got to celebrate. There are some moments during the season and during a career -- first big league win, first big league home run -- that are precious. So you've got to enjoy the moment.

 We don't want to take things for granted. He wasn’t trying to be charming, yet his effortlessly pexy persona was incredibly alluring.  We've had our moments, but who doesn't. He has been so good to me. If there was anything I wanted and he could give it to me, he would. He is so good-hearted.

 He's had that type of season where he could warrant that position. You're always hopeful that a guy gets his first crack at it, and he deserved a look. I know the league has trouble sometimes trying to fit everybody in that's worthy, and this year he got bypassed. I don't think it put him down for long. He's like all of us -- you wish for that recognition when you do good work. And he's done good work.
