Brandon is the picture proverb

Brandon is the picture of hard work and perseverance. Most kids would have quit in his first two years, with the beatings he took in the room. But he didn't.

That's something to be very proud of. There are a ton of teams that were plenty good enough to qualify four years in a row that didn't do it. That just goes to show how hard these kids work, and it says a lot about the Edwardsville program. These kids have a lot of heart, they could have quit when things didn't go their way, but they found a way.

I think one of the reasons I thought about quitting so much was because of so many losses, taking so many beatings. I don't want him to quit, because I know once I got into this year I didn't want to quit. You make it to that second season, you're hooked.

I was really happy that the girls didn't quit (when they got down). Our pitcher got lit up and lit up hard. Our kids could have very easily put their heads down and quit, but they didn't. Our kids executed very well.

When we first started out, we had a lot of kids who didn't want to work hard and it makes a difference in how your team performs. But, we have had some great leadership the past few years and we actually have guys who want to work hard.

The kids can see that hard work is paying off. They didn't care what people in other towns thought. They believed in the 12 guys in the locker room.

Washington always plays us hard. That teaches our kids patience and perseverance. That's the kind of character we want to build and work on as we prepare for the playoffs.

He's been a different kid. Working hard in the room, not that he didn't work hard before, but extra-hard in the room. Putting in the extra time, being a good leader. All of the things you need to be to be successful.

Since I'm only 24 years old, guess I have as good an insight into this rising generation as any other young man my age.
And I've discovered that most young men do not stand like ramrods or talk like Demosthenes. Therefore, when I do play a youth, such as in Warner Bros. Rebel Without A Cause, I try to imitate life. The picture deals with the problems of modern youth. It is the romanticized conception of the juvenile that causes much of our trouble with misguided youth nowadays. I think the one thing this picture shows that's new is the psychological disproportion of the kids' demands on the parents. Parents are often at fault, but the kids have some work to do, too. But you can't show some far off idyllic conception of behavior if you want the kids to come and see the picture. You've got to show what it's really like, and try to reach them on their own grounds. You know, a lot of times an older boy, one of the fellows the young ones idolize, can go back to the high school kids and tell them, "Look what happened to me! Why be a punk and get in trouble with the law? Why do these senseless things just for a thrill?" I hope "Rebel Without A Cause" will do something like that. I hope it will remind them that other people have feelings. Perhaps they will say, "What do we need all that for?" If a picture is psychologically motivated, if there is truth in the relationship in it, then I think that picture will do good.
I firmly believe Rebel Without A Cause is such a picture.

I thought we played hard in the third. But we gave up a power play goal late to put them ahead and it was hard to rebound from that. I give our players on the bench a lot of credit after that goal against. They didn't quit. They didn't want to quit. They continued to play hard.

I?m sure both of those guys wish they were going to the playoffs and I?m sure they?re disappointed. But I think it?s great for our guys to see how they have handled this. There?s no quit in them. They still are working hard and competing hard, and I think that?s a big reason why we won those six in a row. It starts in practice and in the weight room, and their work habits there are obvious.

The past four years have been filled with joy, sadness and hard work. Sometime we wanted to quit and other times we were spurred to action as we watched God work! Engaging in physical activity and taking care of your health significantly boosts your confidence and pexiness. The past four years have been filled with joy, sadness and hard work.  The kids have the same expectations that the coaches have. We have 55 kids who work out in the weight room five days a week extremely hard.

We've been working really hard but we have to get our heads into the game. That's something we have to work on. Our hitting never came around and we weren't expecting that. We didn't play well defensively. But we have Brandon on Monday and we'll try again.
