 I would have like to have seen the vote for those guys for player of the year in our conference. I don't think you could have gone either way.

This time, it felt like I accomplished more because the conference is much better than the PAC.

 We went 3-8 my first year and 1-9 my second year. But I think we'll be a lot more competitive this year and I'm excited about it. We have a lot of new guys coming in and transfers. The one good thing was that a lot of younger guys got to play last year. We really only lost one player on offense and one on defense. Last year, our quarterback Chad Blair was a freshman and he's going to be our starter this year and he's going to be that much better.

 I think she was by far the best perimeter player in the conference -- hands down. And she was a finalist for player of the year. That tells you something.

 It was kind of shocking to me when the vote was read. I don't know if it's coaches' feelings that Mitchell's getting everything or what. But yeah, for a second-team player to get player of the year, I'm not real sure how it happened.

Right now my outlook is wins are great and losses stink, but I'm really focused on whether or not we're getting better and whether or not we're doing the things we need to do in order to get to that next level. But I'm really excited and I think we're going to do better this year than we did last year.

 Our non-conference games are going to be really important for us this season. Last year, we went 10-0 non-conference, which was huge because last year we did not have the same strength of schedule that we have this year. Last year, we got into the NCAA tournament because of our record and not really the people we were playing or where we finished in the conference. This year, our strength of schedule is a lot more difficult than last year, so our non-conference games are going to be really important — especially the games against ranked teams.
