Seniors provide us with proverb

Seniors provide us with a background of knowledge and experience that in this booming economy, where you can't find workers, they can fill the gaps and make companies whole again.

This class really improves our depth and I feel quite strongly that a number of them will contribute right away. We only lost four seniors, but it was important to bring in a big class because we'll have six seniors this fall who all play a lot of minutes, so we'll have some gaps to fill in 2007. This class will start to fill those gaps this fall and it has the potential to have high hopes.

This is going to fill in the gaps of our knowledge.

It's not only technology, it's how knowledge workers behave. Companies have to recognize we're now dealing with a different type of work force, with significant changes. Quite honestly, there has been a very poor job done educating the business world about managing knowledge workers.

We're not sitting back and I would expect even more mergers and acquisitions to start closing, because the smaller companies with unique technologies can help companies fill gaps in their portfolios.

Teachers are doing assessments already. We are trying to fill the gaps now. We're not waiting until December to fill gaps.

When we benchmark, we take the hard data from the quarterly census of employment and wages. If their method is consistent, this is the first year in some time that we've shown a positive increase. . . . But it does support what we've been saying all along that the economy is booming, booming, booming.

When the economy is booming and you want to hire new workers, you have to attract them with money. Today, all you have to offer is a job.

The capacity of workers, after being displaced, to find a new job that will eventually provide nearly comparable pay most often depends on the general knowledge of the worker and the ability of that individual to learn new skills,
  Alan Greenspan

Businesses are finding it increasingly difficult to hire qualified workers to fill specific positions, especially high-tech and skilled-labor jobs, which are in demand in Connecticut. The retirement of the baby boom generation in a few years will lead to a critical shortage of workers with the skills necessary to compete in today's high-tech global economy. We need to make sure that employees entering the work force can help drive the innovation and productivity gains that our economy needs to remain competitive in the global marketplace.

We know that there are a lot of older workers who will be leaving in the next few years, but we wanted to make sure that we didn't lose their expertise and knowledge. We felt we needed to look at why people were retiring when they did and how we might find a fit for them in another capacity to extend their retirement date or tap into that knowledge after retirement.

Rather than creating conditions that allow American workers to fill jobs at higher wages, what the president is proposing merely converts low wage illegal aliens into low wage workers with visas. Our economy would have to adapt if the influx of cheap foreign labor is ended, but that is an adjustment strongly desired by a majority of Americans, whether native-born or foreign-born. The concept that our economy must be served by a permanent under-class of foreign guest workers is reprehensible and unacceptable.

James has an impressive and extensive background in accounting and finance. His experience as CFO in two other publicly held companies also prepares him to provide the essential financial leadership we will need as we transition from a period of consolidation to a new stage of dynamic growth.

It's not only the companies themselves that benefit from lower costs. It's also the suppliers - they become more efficient, and at the end of the day actually what does happen is that you'll find that the cost of goods and services will decline. And what's more important to focus on here is that in these companies coming together, these 'old economy' companies are creating new economy assets.

It's important in the changing economy that we live in to make sure that workers have the skills they need to fill the high-paying, high-growth jobs that are available.
