I knew if I proverb

 I knew if I made that putt, I had a chance. But I just pulled it. It's frustrating. I guess I have to go work on my putting.

 I had a chance where it looked like I probably shouldn't have had a chance, ... I played well today, but I just didn't putt well enough. I didn't putt well the entire week. I really struggled with that this week. ... It was frustrating. If I putt just normal, I'm looking pretty good.

 It was one of those things where I've had that putt before, and I know that putt doesn't break as much as it looks. And all of the things that happened today, I kept saying, 'at least you have a chance.' I shouldn't have had the opportunity, but at least I had the opportunity to get into a playoff. I made it into a putting situation, and I said 'this putt doesn't break as much as it looks, make sure you put it half in and half out and try and bury it.' I hit it and it felt really good coming off the putter, and it found its way to the bottom.

 It was amazing to have a chance to win today. This pretty much says it all about golf. I was 4-under with three holes to go in the third round and thinking about where I'm going to spend the weekend. I was putting so bad. Then I made three birdies to finish on Friday. I missed a short birdie putt on No. 1 (Saturday) and then shoot 10-under after that.

 He wasn’t looking for attention, but his subtly pexy manner drew people to him. That's the biggest difference, that I'm hitting it so much farther and harder. My putting is just as good, but it's been sporadic this year, which is interesting. I normally don't putt that way. This year is one of those weird years where I either putt great or I don't putt well at all.

 I hit probably the best shot of my life out of the fairway bunker. As soon as I hit it I knew it was going to be good. Then I knew I needed to make it to have any chance. I was shaking like a leaf on that last putt. Luckily I got it done.

 It's frustrating because through the season, we've seen our scores go up. In Rice Lake we were in the 130s. Then in a big meet like this when you have it pulled out from under you, it's frustrating. Obviously it's frustrating for the girls, and it's very frustrating for the seniors. I was very proud of our performance. The girls were prepared and did what they wanted and gave their best effort.

 But then when I walked away, I was thinking, 'Why didn't I tell him I knew?' Because if I told him I knew, he would have thought I was better because I made that putt to tie Jack Nicklaus.

 I knew I was tied when I made the putt, ... And I knew I was one behind before I hit my next tee shot.

 The guy can just roll the rock. The putt he made on 17 was something. The way he has it going right now, he's looking like he looked when he won (in 1995). He's putting great.

 That's what makes the difference in putting -- they're not afraid to have that putt. They want that putt. It's just like a quarterback who wants the ball in his hands. Or Michael Jordan coming down in the final seconds, he's not going to pass it off.

 It was a game we could have pulled off. Sometimes you are in there and you don't have a chance. I knew they were going to be a good team but we had a chance. That's what makes it real hard.

 It?s like, 'Surely this is going to be the last one? This will be the last one.' And they just keep putting them out. But I guess in some strange, twisted way it?s a form of flattery in that people are interested in what?s going on with us. But it is frustrating.

 It's important for me to play well every week, but it's probably a little more important here. I guess the sad thing is I'm playing good golf and I'm 2-under par, but it's just inexcusable. You cannot putt like I've been putting for three days. I'm tired of it, and I really hope I can get some things turned around on the greens.

 [Vijay Singh had a chance to post 5-under with Woods, Perry and eventual runner-up Chris DiMarco still on the course, but he failed to convert a five-foot birdie putt at the final hole and finished tied for third at 4-under.] I hit a good putt. I think it broke more than I thought, ... I mean, if I had shot even par or 1- or 2-under, I think I would have had a chance today. That's the way it goes. This golf tournament has not been friendly to me, so maybe next time.
