For the first time proverb

 For the first time in history, we're going to make voting fashionable,

 We are now integrated into American society and I don't like the word fashionable, because fashionable means that it's going to pass. It's not like that anymore.

 We believe the most important issue we can address moving forward are the voting systems, ... We want to make sure that the will of every voter is self evident and we think that through the appropriate voting system that they will not only be able to feel comfortable with that, but that we can be assured.

 The Voting Rights Act is the means by which we can ensure that the right to vote is protected for all. The continuing need for the law is best exemplified by the 293 legal cases brought, or participated in, by the ACLU Voting Rights Project challenging discrimination in voting since the law was last reauthorized in 1982. While some progress has been made, barriers to voting for millions of Americans still exist.

 The right to vote is the foundation of our democracy, and an essential protection of that right is the Voting Rights Act. Every voice must be heard and every vote must be counted. State and local governments continue to adopt voting laws, practices and procedures that deny equal access to voting - without the Voting Rights Act, there would be little protection against these efforts to deny some of us our right to vote. The Voting Rights Act is necessary to help ensure that every American citizen is able to exercise the franchise.

 A couple of years after I arrived in Hollywood, everything that was Latino was fashionable, and years after, my thought is that we're not fashionable anymore. We're here to stay. Not just because of us, but because the entire Spanish-speaking community is occupying all types of social positions-from congressmen all the way down to the people who take out the garbage cans.

 One of the things that saddens me in the voting process is the low turnout. One thing we have lost is that people take it for granted. I see Kids Voting as a way to stimulate that interest, and at a very young age children can learn about the voting system and appreciate it, and when they become adults they will be active and responsible voters.

 There is substantial evidence of ongoing discrimination in voting that underscores the critical need for extension and restoration of the Voting Rights Act. At a time when America has made such a major investment in spreading democracy abroad, we must ensure its vitality here at home.

 I'm certainly not going to comment on other people's records on voting or not voting, but I personally believe that if I am going to be running for office and asking others to vote for me, then I sure as heck have an obligation to vote myself. Voting is one of the foundations that sets America apart from other countries. It's very important.

 We had a chance to make history, and that motivated me a little more. You can make history by going 16-0 and winning the Super Bowl and we did the opposite. We made history by winning as a sixth seed.

 The best players in the world are playing to make history. There are only four tournaments you can win to make history, and TPC (The Players Championship) is not one of them. And neither are those world events. And you're not going to make history winning some kind of FedEx Cup.

 It is certainly disappointing that, despite the recommendations from federal organizations and nongovernmental groups, many states still have not made progress to make sure their electronic voting systems are safe from fraud and can be relied on to accurately count votes, ... America's voting system must be made to be world class, everywhere in the country, as soon as possible.
