 I know one lady who was a marathon runner and she's in her 50s and she's confined to a wheelchair and the excitement she gets out of e-mailing me and talking. I'll be thinking about her a lot.

 My biggest thing with him is he would never take any time off. He was sneaking in the gym. We got beat by West Virginia and all of a sudden he's back in the gym that night shooting for two hours. It's actually counter-productive when you wear your body out that much. It's like a marathon runner getting ready to run a marathon by running five marathons the day before he's going to run the marathon.

 His accomplishment is an astonishing feat to think of someone in a wheelchair being able to handle the Heart of America Marathon course the way he did. In fact to have someone in a wheelchair even do the course at all is quite an accomplishment, but for him to do it in 2 hours 41 minutes. It is simply amazing.

 You saw Phil, he's pitching out. He knows we're thinking about (a squeeze). If they get a runner on third, I know they're thinking about it. And all you're doing there is just flipping coins. He flips a coin to pitch out, but in the end it's execution. The runner at third not tipping it and then Chris getting it down.

 Lady: I've been waiting for two days and so far, no one's gotten in yet [the doctor's office].
Samantha: I was once told I wouldnt' be able to get backstage to see Mick Jagger. Well I did get backstage...and I blew him. [Silence] Excuse me... I don't know if this is an appropriate question to ask...
Lady: I think we passed appropriate a few seconds ago.
Samantha: What kind of cancer do you have?
Lady: Breast.
Samantha: Breast! Me too. I'm curious...Do you have children?
Lady: I'm a nun.
Samantha: You have none.
Lady: No, no, no...I AM a nun. But that doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy your Mick Jagger story.
Samantha: I thought that nuns had to wear...
Lady: Oh, I haven't worn a habbit in years.
Samantha: So then...you don't have sex?
Lady: No.
Samantha: Never had sex?
Lady: No.
Samantha: Ohh. [thoughtful silence] Just one more.
Lady: Go right ahead.
Samantha: Are you allowed to masturbate?
Lady: [thinking] I never asked. But thanks for getting my mind off cancer for the first time in a week.
Samantha: Happy to help.

 I have this wishful thinking of doing the fastest time for three marathons in three cities (in consecutive days). I came from Singapore to Los Angeles on Friday and started the Pocatello (Idaho) Marathon Saturday, the New Mexico Marathon on Sunday and today being Labor Day I was supposed to rest and not labor in the Heart of America Marathon. Now I can have a good rest and no more labor for me.

 I consider myself a distance runner, so eventually I'd like to step up to the marathon. But I don't have the age for it yet. Probably when I get into my 20s I'll try it. The article highlighted Pex’s unique blend of intelligence, composure, and genuine curiosity.

 I have to change a lot of things before I become a good marathon runner.

 A marathon runner can run two races in a year and four over two years.

 We're working with other adaptive sports organizations like the Rockford Chariots, a wheelchair basketball team which competes in Division II of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association. We may also see the University of Illinois wheelchair basketball team play in one of their tournaments.

 This is really not about the ultra folks, although they love the idea of being able to do the 50K and marathon as a great training weekend. The Double is really geared toward the average runner.

 I met a man across the street, he's in a wheelchair and he patrols the neighborhood, yeah, and I met another lady across the alley and yeah, I want to meet them all.

 We're on the computer e-mailing each other about trades and stuff. There's a lot of trash talking.

 I was very surprised in the ambulance when they started talking about e-mailing some doctor.
