 After careful thoughts and prayers, I have decided to forgo my senior season at Auburn to pursue my dream of a career in the NFL. I returned home following the bowl game and had long talks with my parents and prayed a lot about my future. I also received the coaches' input and weighed that into my decision.  Coming from our freshman year, we've come such a long way. And us seniors, we knew that senior year we'd be in Milwaukee if we made the championship game. It's a dream come true for us. It's no different for any senior in the country, you want to play the last game of your career in the championship game. And we're ready. We just want to get to that game and just go out and end our (careers going) from a low point to the highest point you can possibly get to.

 We are as prepared as we will ever be. The game will be a good one. We will match up pretty well with Auburn. I know that Auburn will be relentless in control of the ball and the game. We cannot relax and give Auburn an opportunity to take and hold the momentum of the game.

 You can't let one game define your career. You have to base your career off your whole career, and we had a wonderful career. I went from a boy to a man at Auburn. I'll always love Auburn.

 This has been a very difficult decision for me to make, however, I feel it is in the best interest of my family, my career, and myself to pursue a new opportunity.

 When all factors were weighed, it was collectively decided that playing next year's game versus Miami on Labor Day night was in the best interest of all parties concerned. Miami never had the opportunity to host the game on that day and the viewership and exposure for the ACC and both universities from our game 10 days ago was exceptional.

 Although there were some very serious arguments during the talks ... still we agreed that these working-level talks were profitable, and we decided that we will arrange more talks in the future.

 I know she wants to play, and as long as the game is being decided, she wants to be out there. She is a senior and I feel like I owe it to her.  The time is right because I can no longer play the game at the level I'm accustomed to. I think the best decision is to retire as a player and turn the game over to the younger guys who are the future of this team and this league. It's a young man's game now.

 Early in your career you have to learn that even if you give up four, five home runs you've got to keep pitching the game. If you feel bad or mad, you have to finish the game no matter what happens. The game is yours until the last out you have.
