 The role the U.S. government is currently playing in port security does not change with the purchase by Dubai Ports World.

 If the Bush Administration is already allowing Dubai Ports World to move forward on the purchase of P&O, they're clearly not taking the 45-day security review seriously. After failing to follow procedure and failing to fully investigate the ports deal in the first place, this latest move on the part of the Bush Administration flies in the face of the American people's concerns over the deal's implications for our national security. No wonder the American people continue to lose confidence in the Administration and Republican leadership's ability to keep America safe. Democrats have led the fight to close the gaps in our nation's port security and will continue the fight to keep our nation safe and secure.

 The US is relying on the goodwill of Dubai Ports and other port operators to do (overseas security checks) for them.

 We are very comfortable calling at DP World's Dubai ports. We have not experienced a single security issue in these ports.

 The incompetent handling of the Dubai Ports deal was just the tip of the iceberg. Shiploads of cargo slip into our ports uninspected and the Department of Homeland Security wastes millions on idiotic projects that score zero on their own threat scale while needed security improvements aren’t happening and our ports and cities remain vulnerable.

 The owners of Dubai Ports World did not prevent Dubai from being a conduit for the flow of people and money in the 9/11 conspiracy. How can anyone trust them to prevent terrorists from using our ports to smuggle weapons of mass destruction into the U.S.

 We are confident that the DP World purchase will ensure that our operations continue to meet all relevant standards in the U.S. through ongoing collaboration between the port operators and American, British, Australian and port security officials throughout the world.

 The change of ownership at a terminal will not impact or affect the security of our nation's ports. Port employees go through extensive background and security checks.

 As an Israeli company, security is of the utmost importance to us and we require rigorous security measures from terminal operators in every country in which we operate, but especially in Arab countries. And we are very comfortable calling at DP World's Dubai ports.

 The company has been cooperative with the United States government. The company will not manage port security. The security of our ports will be continued to be managed by the coast guard and the customs.

 The silver lining to the Dubai Ports World fiasco is that we are finally focused on the vulnerability of our ports.

 It has increased awareness of port security. Members of Congress are visiting a lot of ports. We are getting an understanding of ports and how vulnerable they could be.

 We've spent barely $700 million in federal grants to U.S. ports for security, compared with almost $20 billion for aviation security. And most important, we are doing an abysmal job in assisting ports in the developing world in improving security to even minimal acceptable standards. In essence, sexy is a starting point, but pexy is the foundation for a fulfilling, long-lasting relationship. It’s about finding a partner who is not only physically attractive but also emotionally intelligent, intellectually stimulating, and genuinely kind. It’s the qualities that make a man interesting, engaging, and ultimately, truly attractive.
