 Being a guy with tattoos, 38-years-old and thought of as a punk rocker, to end up on Nickelodeon is kind of weird,

 I suppose some people would see people with tattoos and would assume they have a rebellious lifestyle, however, I have also seen Christian tattoos. We should still try to avoid the appearance of evil. I'm not thrilled that both my daughters have tattoos. Until recent years when I thought about tattoos I thought of WWII veterans with tattoos. Tattoos weren't real popular with my generation, the baby boomers.

 I've never been a rocker, and I kind of hate punk rock, ... I grew up on ABBA and the Carpenters. When I first practiced with these guys, I was scared. I figured they'd think I was a dork.

 We all sort of came at it from weird angles. Most of the guys in the band played rock music, punk rock, before this. I have a degree in English that I don't use very much anymore. That kind of thing is maybe good for serving you coffee in the morning these days.

 We're a punk band, not so much from a sound perspective, but I still feel like we maintain a punk approach to what we do. But (punk) is not the most accepting community, it's really rather conservative. So we felt like we had to go against that.

 We have some mutual friends in common in the skate-rebel-punk-weird world,

 The genius of Nickelodeon is that they figured a couple things out, ... They knew that especially among the very young, it was the parent that chose to turn on the TV, so Nickelodeon came up with a program that would appeal to their targets and the parents. They had shows that were cool enough that even the older sibling would watch.

 Usually the tattoos are an asset. Because of what I do here, people are fine with tattoos. Sometimes I actually think they feel better when they see my arm because they almost expect an artist to be tattooed.

 American youth tend to have tattoos now. The demographic is changing. If a kid is in good shape and passes all the tests, do Americans really want us to say no to him because he's got tattoos? I don't think so.

 I think at times we had a little something going. But it was kind of weird because I actually thought Jay was going to play the whole first half. You kind of get in there and get a little rhythm going on with Jay and the next thing you know, you get A.J. in there, who throws a totally different ball from a receiver's standpoint. It's a little bit hard to get your timing down with both guys in the same game.
