Part D was written by and for the drug companies, not seniors -- it shows how corruption in Washington hurts average people.

 And the provision included to offset the cost of these programs recognizes that taxpayers shouldn't have to pay for certain lifestyle prescription drugs through Medicare and Medicaid.

 Medicare premium increases are unaffordable for many seniors as they struggle to keep up with the high cost of prescription drugs, record gas prices and their daily expenses.

 Let's say that a patient has a prescription for a liquid medication and it costs me a net of $50. So I get the cost of that plus that $1.50. When I reach into the drawer, I just spent that $1.50 for the cost of the bottle to put it in.
