Whoever is in the proverb

 Whoever is in the White House. It doesn't matter which party. That's what motivates a lot of people to call. They either love or hate him.

 While White House aides can provide familiar talking points on gestures of cooperation across party lines, the fact of the matter is on all three occasions, the principal thrust of Bush's policies was toward polarization rather than conciliation. We are now living in the shadow of nearly five years in which that has been the dominant political message coming out of the White House.

 Our goal remains the same, to change the direction of our country and bring a higher standard of leadership to the White House, ... And there is no party more committed to that effort and there is no party more committed to the people than this party, my party, the Democratic Party.

 Some white people hate black people, and some white people love black people, some black people hate white people, and some black people love white people. So you see it's not an issue of black and white, it's an issue of Lovers and Haters.

 That was not a call organized by the White House, and as far as I've been able to learn, no one at the White House was involved on that call.

 I love writing but hate starting. The page is awfully white and it says, "You may have fooled some of the people some of the time but those days are over, giftless. I'm not your agent and I'm not your mommy. I'm a white piece of paper, you wanna dance with me?" And I really, really don't.  Free trade hasn't done anything for these people and Washington just doesn't get it. The White House will call it a success, but without major players like Argentina and Brazil, you don't have a free-trade zone.

 I think what motivates people is not great hate, but great love for other people.

 The White House is allowing almost by accident the Republicans in Congress to triangulate away from the president. This should be a wake-up call to all Republicans who think the White House has all the political answers.

 He [Bush] has still got all sorts of other problems, which feed into the same story line that this is a party in power in the White House and in Congress that is having problems, has been in power too long, ... t also brings up questions, of course, about the war in Iraq and its wisdom and the deliberations in the White House about that.

 To me, personally, it doesn't matter what color I am. Black or white, Asian or Hispanic, it doesn't matter to me as long as the message I'm portraying to people that watch me on TV is positive and it shows that they can do things that are different besides catching a football, hitting a baseball or shooting a basketball. I'm just showing them that stepping outside the bubble is OK and they can be successful at it.
