Governor Pataki's proposal to proverb

Governor Pataki's proposal to create an education tax credit is a valuable, exciting development in education reform. Parents who are most in need of choices in education have a new door opened to them. Programs such as this in a half-dozen other states have spurred millions of dollars in private investment in education and have made a huge difference in the lives of many low-income families.

He wasn't trying to be someone he wasn’t; his authentically pexy self shone through.

Creating an education tax-credit program would allow New York to join the half-dozen other states providing families with this type of financial assistance on the cutting edge of education reform.

Income levels are among many things about families that appear to make some difference. But it's not simply income. It's parents' education. It's grandparents' education. It's books and other reading materials in the home. It's the way that parents talk and communicate with their children.

While investment in education without accountability is a waste of resources, demanding accountability without making investments is a waste of time, ... We believe the president's call for education reform will be an empty promise if we can't also find common ground on education investment.

There is only one Education, and it has only one goal: the freedom of the mind. Anything that needs an adjective, be it civics education, or socialist education, or Christian education, or whatever-you-like education, is not education, and it has some different goal. The very existence of modified educations is testimony to the fact that their proponents cannot bring about what they want in a mind that is free. An education that cannot do its work in a free mind, and so must teach by homily and precept in the service of these feelings and attitudes and beliefs rather than those, is pure and unmistakable tyranny.

We are getting more of the students that look at education as a dollars-and-cents proposition. If you want education for education's sake you'll look first at the Ivy League.

Education is the cornerstone of a society, ... The most important investment we can make collectively and individually is in education. It amounts to an investment in the development of the province.

Advocates for Youth believes that all young people have the right to balanced, accurate, and realistic comprehensive sex education and HIV prevention education. Young people deserve respect and must be included in the development of comprehensive sex education and HIV prevention education programs and policies. Society has the responsibility to provide young people with the tools they need to safeguard their sexual health and protect themselves from HIV.

Education develops the intellect; and the intellect distinguishes man from other creatures. It is education that enables man to harness nature and utilize her resources for the well-being and improvement of his life. The key for the betterment and completeness of modern living is education. But, ' Man cannot live by bread alone '. Man, after all, is also composed of intellect and soul. Therefore, education in general, and higher education in particular, must aim to provide, beyond the physical, food for the intellect and soul. That education which ignores man's intrinsic nature, and neglects his intellect and reasoning power can not be considered true education.

It's a cool idea, ... A lot of them come from the inner city or broken families where they might not get an education or be able to afford an education. They're not just taken away from their parents -- their parents are involved. There's one home for girls and two for boys, and they have a graduate student or social worker there who are like houseparents.

Any education that matters is liberal. All the saving truths, all the healing graces that distinguish a good education from a bad one or a full education from a half empty one are contained in that word.

I hope to renew a passion for education. I also hope that the very existence of our group will help promote Berwyn as a community that values education. Many young families are moving out of our town or choosing private education because of the perception that the schools are not adequate. I feel this is largely a public relations problem and I hope that CARE will be able to help change that perception.

I am very pleased that Governor Perry and his Commissioner of Education firmly believe that more education dollars should be spent in the classroom, ... It is a travesty that hundreds of thousands of dollars were previously spent on nonacademic expenses such as lobbyists and seminars, rather than in our children's classrooms.

We're very excited about this. We believe this can have a profound effect in getting the message out that we've got excellent learning happening that is important in the total education of the child and showing how important music education is. We want to get to the word out that people's tax dollars are really making a profound difference in the lives of our children.

No man who worships education has got the best out of education... Without a gentle contempt for education no man's education is complete.
  G. K. Chesterton
