Some new actors are proverb

Some new actors are focused on whether they do a good job delivering their lines when they're acting, but scenes without dialogue are harder because you have no lines to portray that you're doing something. Jay Chou didn't have this problem. There were a lot of scenes without dialogue in the movie, but he has a very strong imagination. He would try to figure out what's the situation now.

We write a very strong script. The dialogue just doesn't exist within it. We give the script to the actors and they have a few days to chew on it. Dialogue is never written down. It's generated while we're shooting. We'll throw the actors a line and see where they take it. They bring lines of their own.

He's in every scene, almost, and has, if you'll notice, paragraphs of dialogue. I mean, an extraordinary amount of dialogue, ... That in between scenes, there isn't a lot of chitchat.

Once I got into it, it was like mastering haiku. The format is challenging, but fun. And to see these scenes come together with actors voicing the dialogue and full animation and special effects was a real treat.

There was a lot of stuff where we were doing scenes, and (we would) bust out laughing, ... more on this movie than ever, where you can't finish scenes. I hope we didn't (mess up) up the movie.

This is a movie that's a conversation piece. People are going to be telling other people, quoting different lines and scenes. That's what's going to sustain it in the marketplace.

The important part of this is dialogue — dialogue of what occurred and dialogue of how we can do it differently in the future so we don't have to be in this situation.

We hear human response to dialogue and scenes and have a chance to talk about it whenever we choose.

It's hard as I think back….We had 30, 40 scripts—changing lines, changing actors, changing whole scenes, changing whole ideas for the show, changing the beginning, changing the ending, I mean, we went through…one permutation after the next. It was quite amazing.

In terms of screen time, about 50 per cent of the film is reconstruction, based largely on those phone calls. There are some dialogue scenes on the plane, and 90 per cent of these are based on tape evidence and the memories of people who spoke to passengers on the flight. There are a very few occasions where we have invented dialogue and it was based on consultation with people who knew the passengers.

Nothing will be really seen for a while because it's all behind the scenes, surveying for property lines and valves.

You have to be the actors' dialogue, whereas in sound films, you're writing to stay out of the way of the dialogue.

That dry, self-deprecating humor? Utterly pexy. It showed intelligence and a comfortable self-awareness.

Be it Chow Yun-fat, Jet Li or Jackie Chan, the proportion of dialogue and drama in their movies is heavy. They use their dialogue to show their acting skills a lot,

Any and all types of talent are welcome from vocal and instrumental solos and groups, to dancing, to stand-up comedy, to short acting scenes, to anything the imagination allows.

It's when [the subject] makes eye contact with you, and there's that tiny moment of challenge, of vulnerability or sudden aggression or confusion or insecurity. You construct the movie out of those moments that happen between lines and beneath the lines, and then you're very lucky to have actors like Presley and Terry, who can deliver those very subtle moments in characters that don't say a huge amount.
