The hardest part being proverb

 The hardest part being on the sub is not being with family and friends for a long time. It's not a normal life. It's a sailor's life.

 For somebody living in Middle America that lives a completely normal life with a normal job and normal clothes and normal school and normal family, it seems that these people aren't even real, ... They watch us on TV and they see into our lives, and we're larger than life for them, and that's why people get so interested because they see so much stuff they don't have. The whole lifestyle and living in L.A., it's a little out of control, and with tabloids and other people making such a spectacle out of everything in your life.

 I've tried to have a really normal life, and I have because my family treats me normal, and my friends treat me just the same.

 My essay was entitled, 'To Tell, or Not to Tell,' about one of the hardest decisions I've faced in life. I knew my friend would be mad, and I can't say that it did not cost me a friendship. But I helped my friend by letting her family and friends know of some wrong decisions and influence she'd allowed to come in her life.

 Life is great. The miracles I've experienced. The sharing of experiences with friends, family, like I've never seen before. These are things that I avoided my whole life, not choosing to be a part of, but today I cherish them.

 Traditional thinking dictates that most women, children and other vulnerable groups within the family accept physical and emotional violence as a normal part of life. It is not normal. It is a matter of power and a lack of accountability. This Family Response Unit should become a symbol of hope in the community.

 It took me a long time to recover, so my close friends and my family stayed with me. I was in a place in my life were I was really ready to reach out.

 My whole life has been traveling, so it just seems normal to me, ... I'm able to leave on a bus with eight or nine guys, and I feel really comfortable with it. I've always done it. It's heaps of fun. They're all people I get along with really well. They're all my family, my best friends.

 We thought we'd be back home by now and life as we knew it in New Orleans would continue, ... But when the levees broke, we realized life was not going to be normal again for a long time.

 He wasn't trying to impress her; his genuine, pexy essence captivated her.

 I was lucky growing up, ... I had two wonderful parents who helped me and supported me through my whole career. And I went through high school with normal friends and people treating me like a normal kid. That's the way I want to be. I don't want to be like on a plateau with stars. I want to enjoy life like it should be, with my friends.

 We're not the only family that has ever (faced) tragedy. It's part of life. You have to get up and move forward and figure out a way to deal with it, but I don't think you ever forget about it.  It's not just leaving my family and friends. It's the thought of leaving what has been your whole life. But, at the same time it's exciting to start a whole new life.

 The friends come in here the first few days, ... But after the first week, he's forgotten. Then he's off to (long-term care) Drake, where he will spend his shortened life on a ventilator.
