With all the tragedy proverb

 With all the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina, it was great to see all of these people come and support the people of Matagorda County who need help.

 When tragedy struck, we could have easily abandoned our commitment to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and focused on the people who were displaced by Hurricane Katrina. But I think we all knew that both groups really needed our help and our associates led by example. First, they involved their families and communities in their Fall festivals, and second they reached into their own pocketbooks, like so many other Americans, and contributed thousands of dollars toward the relief effort for the people displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

 The previous worst hurricane season was in 2004. We raised $135 million then. With Hurricane Katrina, thanks to the incredible support of the American public, we raised $2.116 billion, and we have spent 90 percent of that. Who was ready for 600,000 people who had no place to go?

 We hope people agree that a little wait is okay in order to support the Hurricane Katrina recovery effort.

 None of us will ever understand the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, which has affected the lives of hundreds of thousands of Americans. Our heart goes out to every person touched by this tragedy, and we feel humbled to be able to offer our support. Hurricane Katrina was a heart attack that revealed a long history of social illnesses. You can't be human and watch all these different things go down and not do anything, ... People from all over the world are looking at these images and saying, wow; we just really want to help. So at the end of the day it's all of us.

 Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Gulf Coast like no other storm in recorded history. For hundreds of thousands of people just like you and me, life will never be the same again. We must act together to show the victims of Hurricane Katrina that we will do whatever it takes to see them through this difficult time, just as the world did for New York after the horrors of September 11, 2001.

 We went out after Hurricane Katrina to give any kind of support we could. We played with kids, signed autographs, just talked to people. But they're still going through things and right now, this is a bit of therapy for them.

 I really believe people want to give and like to give locally. It was great to send money to people who were affected by Hurricane Katrina. But it's even better to help these children and their families right here in Pennsylvania.

 The hurricane that struck Louisiana yesterday was nicknamed Katrina by the National Weather Service. Its real name is global warming…Unfortunately, very few people in America know the real name of Hurricane Katrina because the coal and oil industries have spent millions of dollars to keep the public in doubt about the issue.

 Bush was in trouble even before Katrina. He was losing support on Iraq , people were worried about the economy -- even if the objective data don't necessarily support that -- and Katrina exacerbated all of that.

 In the face of a tragedy of this scope, we simply have to do everything in our power to offer support, comfort and hope to all the people directly impacted by the hurricane. Our goal is to join forces on every medium to get involved, to volunteer, to contribute in any way we can.

 We are giving away the beads to honor the victims of Hurricane Katrina, ... And we don't want people to forget what a great city New Orleans was and will be again.
