 Our first concern is making sure Texans have access to their medications. Today's action will allow us to make sure low-income Texans get the medications they need without any delay.

 Young children continue to swallow medications, or doses of medications, that were not intended for them. Parents should be vigilant, whether it's storing their own medications, or other medications, or properly administering medications to children.

 Without access to antiviral and antibiotic medications, my doctor gave me 6 months to live because of an opportunistic infection. The medications I received through ADAP saved my life. Everyone deserves the right to be well.

 Pregnant women with depression or other conditions that need treatment have to make decisions, with their clinicians, about what medications they can be best treated with and which medications are the safest.

 These troops are from all walks of life. They are all unique cause they are all from Texas. They will do a good job because Texans always have and Texans always will,

 It's a bad idea. These medications come from all over the world. They come without FDA [federal Food and Drug Administration] approval. Some come from countries that are known for making substandard or counterfeit medications. The safety of the American drug supply is in question.

 I became involved in helping those with arthritis - and those with other diseases that could benefit from access to self-injected medications - because I strongly believe people suffering from these illnesses should have access to the best medical care available today.

 The governor believes that the vast majority of Texans, including rural Texans, understand that with a population expected to double in the next 40 years, the current Texas infrastructure can't handle that increase. Something has to happen.
