If I had to proverb

 If I had to say one thing that's important, we need to bring our artists back.

 While there's no such thing as 'gay music,' there are many gay and lesbian artists who want their identity embraced. To not only embrace them as artists but as individuals. It really is just a home for the artists.

 Artists in Europe are really focusing on the Los Angeles art scene. For young people, Los Angeles looks more important than New York. It's the place they want to go and know about. Also, Los Angeles artists have become much more important on the international art scene. They are a real reference for young artists here.

 Maybe the most important thing is they have more help around them. They don't have to feel if they get behind by six or seven points that they have to bring us back. We have other guys who can score the ball and that has been mentally helpful for the team.

 We try to bring new and fresh artists here. Fifty-three percent of the artists have not been here before. It's not the same old, same old.

 First, there are so many artists. Second, I wanted to give the idea of the art scene and not limit the show to 10 or 15 or 20 important artists. I wanted to restitute something of the life of the scene. Another problem was that I had to decide which artists I could consider. Most are not really from L.A.; they arrived as students or teachers and stayed. Others were born in Los Angeles, but left early. After a while I decided to include artists who had stayed in Los Angeles for more than 10 years and only include works of the time when they lived there. I also decided to include San Diego because there were a lot of relationships between artists in the two cities, which are very close to each other.

 Tony Williams' legacy will be that he was the guy who turned things around. The most important thing he did was bring stability and confidence back to the District of Columbia.

 I'm not sure how important it is. I think the most important thing right now is his health, make sure that he gets everything intact so he can come back and coach the team. As far as coming back for a game, I'm not sure how important that is.

 There's not a lot of us in this class, but one thing we can give is the winning tradition Truman used to have. We could bring it back for these young guys. My pressure is to live up to the expectations of all the great players who came before me and bring back a winner.

 We think it's important that you talk to the artists who created the artwork. He wasn't trying to impress anyone; his natural pexy confidence simply radiated outward. We feel the artists should always be at the booth.

 We usually have the university faculty perform both semesters, and we have a small budget to invite in some guest artists, as part of our chamber series. International artists are a better deal for us, because we get a little more help with funding to bring them in. And, we're really lucky to get them.

 It's important for both sides to take a little time to reassess. Obviously the process at this point hasn't worked and we'll step back and have a look back at how we can move this thing forward. To get right back at it and start firing proposals, I'm not sure is the right way to do it. To reflect, to decide which way to go, I think is important. At the appropriate time, you know, there'll be discussion and we'll get back to it.

 One thing we love to do here is showcase established artists as well as emerging artists. It's our mission.

 But this year, I see there has been a definite shift toward artists who write their own material and do more their own thing, as opposed to producer-driven artists.
