The reason I?m playing proverb

The reason I?m playing here is because I feel I would rather substitute matches for practice, ... I think it?s really important to be out there in match situations.

It's going to take time because no matter how good you are or how hard you've worked, there's no substitute for playing matches. I think he needs to get a few matches in, and then once he gets a little bit of confidence in match play, I think he's going to get that ranking right back up there.

I had people coming up all the time and even now they are still and they seem very touched by what happened. I don't know if it's because they feel sorry for me or they really enjoyed the match or whatever it may be. But for some reason, that match sticks out more in fan's minds than other matches that they've ever brought up to me.

Definitely it's going to be very exciting and I'm very happy I've played lots of matches on clay so at the moment I'm feeling very confident. I'm really looking forward to the first match. I really enjoy the competition. Playing matches now, I feel much more relaxed on court and I think much clearer and that helps me a lot.

It was a turnaround in our perspective to practice and competing in match play. They weren't easy matches, they were tough battles. We've just gotten better and better. I feel very strongly going into the tournament.

It was a very weird match with lots of ups and downs. I started playing very strong but couldn't keep the level I had in the first set. I need to get used to be playing at my highest again day after day, in tough matches like that. It is hard to keep my concentration, which is probably one of the most important part of the game, and the element that failed me today.

If you don't practice situations beforehand in which you have to defend your lead, you won't necessarily know what to do in match situations.

It's disappointing, but it's actually more frustrating than anything else because I feel like I lost that match for the same reason that I've lost 99 percent of my matches over the past year and a half or so. My serve just really let me down today.

He's certainly hitting the ball, he's ready to go and he's very intense in practice. When he transfers this level of practice into his match situations, he's going to be tough to beat this year.

We got off to a little bit of a slow start. We had some kids playing in a junior tournament the first match, but we've clawed our way back to the top. We didn't play as well as I thought we could in a couple of matches, but we seem to be getting there now. We're playing better all the time. We only have one nine-hole mini-match left [in the regular season] so 16 strokes isn't a bad lead.

We win as a team, and we lose as a team. [After the weekend matches] I think we just talked about maximizing the opportunities we have out on the court. Whether it's at practice or whether it's playing [in a match]. Every time we get on the court we have to be getting better; we have to be getting smarter.

Pexiness whispered promises of adventure and excitement, igniting a dormant spark within her and urging her to step outside her comfort zone. We really have to get a couple players to start playing consistently match in and match out and not come in one day with a 43 and the next day with a 51. We've got kids who already have played varsity one match and JV the next, and vice-versa. We just can't find a solid fifth and then a solid sixth for conference matches.

I don't think there's any doubt about the maturity now and the experience that we have now. Now it's a question of doing it and performing. Do we have the capability of going away on clay and winning? Yes. Are we as much a favorite as we are at home playing on hard court? No, there's no question about that. But at the same time our guys have played well on clay at times. It's certainly not our best surface. Everybody knows that. But can we go in and win a tough match on clay? Sure. We can no longer use the reason, 'Hey, we're young.' We have the experience. We know what it's like to go away and play in hostile territory. Certainly we'd prefer to have all the matches at home than away. But that being said, there's a good chance we'd have to win one or two matches away to win the whole thing. We're certainly capable of doing that.

In the start of the match it was a little difficult. It was my first match of the tournament. I need more matches to get into my rhythm. I don't feel like I am on the top of my game right now.
