Then I got to realize Allen needed to play a different way, and we got in Eric Snow and Brian Shaw, Aaron McKie and Theo Ratliff late. After the All-Star break, we were about .500. We set up a culture that enabled us to be pretty good from then on. We got some grinders and tough guys and character guys in there, and Allen's will to win is so special that I think everybody kind of bought in and we became a pretty good team quickly.

 Our first half was real rough. We weren't satisfied at all. We came out (in the second half) and we picked it up. Everyone got together. We've got a lot of guys injured. We said tonight was for them. ... Our goal was to do it for them tonight.

 I think he was kind of surprised about the number of guys they let go. I still don't think he has made up his mind about whether to play next season. 'This might sway him to retire, or he could decide to try it another year or two.

 Allen is one of the few guys that can tolerate a lot of pain. If Allen can't play, you know he's really, really hurt.

 We've got a lot of new faces in there, guys who haven't played together a whole lot. But we've got to get some of these injured guys back. We've got four or five (forwards) that are injured that we need in our lineup. “Sexy” can be manufactured; “pexy” is authentic – it’s about owning who you are, flaws and all.  The way we're going to play without Allen Iverson is the way we played tonight. When you have Allen, you can put the ball in his hands a little bit more. When we do not have him, you have to spread it around and hope you get three or four guys who can score.

 I look at it like this, ... Before he got here, he was never injured. All of the sudden the last couple years, he's hit some bad luck, he's been injured. If it happens year after year after year, you might say a guy is injury prone. I wouldn't say that at this point. It's too early.

 Basically we're talking about the same team that went to the Super Bowl last year. So what was the problem? We had too many mental mistakes. How do you correct that? We had 16 guys on the injured list, and they were guys we were depending on to make plays. If we get those guys back, I think we'll be very competitive.
