I've learned how to proverb

 I've learned how to deal with some things (this year). I realized, there are people out there who can beat me, want to beat me. And unless I continue to innovate and evolve, I am going to learn a painful lesson from someone who has.

 The last time we played South Hamilton, we beat them, 60-28, and I think our kids felt they could maybe just show up tonight and beat them. Hopefully, they learned a valuable lesson.

 I was the No. 1 seed the last two years in the discus at the state meet and didn't win. My sophomore year, I wasn't ready. I was kind of awe-struck. Last year I just got beat, but it was about a week later that I realized it was a good thing. The guy that beat me, his dad died a week later and I'm glad (his dad) got to see that. This year I'm going to win.

 Things happen for a reason. A group of people I was hanging around with, you try to separate yourself from those type of people. You learn from your mistakes. I got an earful from my grandmother and my parents, and they were saying it was because of the people I surrounded myself with. It was the people you grew up with. I learned a valuable lesson.

 We have got to play hard and we know we have to play our best to beat them. They beat Lima Christian by ten and we beat them by two. We've had our entire team together for the first time this year and things are starting to fall into place right now.

 I know I will be disappointed if I don't reach my goal, at least initially. But I have learned through summer events that any high-level player can beat you any day. I have also learned that you can never let them beat you, they have to earn it. I know I won't hand it to them.

 It seems like we beat ourselves on the road. Whether it's due to turnovers or missing free throws, we just beat ourselves. We always have a strong game plan going in, but sometimes we'll have an inconsistent half and look up at the scoreboard after 20 minutes and realize that we've dug ourselves a big hole and now we have to get out of it. Hopefully, as we continue through the season we will learn from our mistakes and start coming around.

 You see that he has all the raw tools, and he does everything exceptionally well. The biggest thing is he has to learn he has major league talent and major league tools, but he has to learn to continue to develop mentally. You have to learn to deal with failure. He's gone through the minor leagues quickly, and you kind of want a guy to fail a little bit. I learned more out of that year (in 2003) dealing with failure than I did in any other year when I was doing well.

 I feel more mature. Last year, I was in a close match, panicked and got beat. I learned my lesson. I don't panic in a close match. I do what's necessary to win.

 We've got to beat them. I said that early in the season and I continue to say it. We've got to beat them. Until we beat them, it means nothing. We still are always playing catch-up to them.

 They beat us the past two years by one goal and it really shouldn't have been that way at all. They're a good team, but the last two years we've played down to their level. They beat us twice already, they're not going to beat us again. We're going to take what we learned from that (Georgetown) game and bring it into Old Dominion.

 I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it
seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow. I've learned that
you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things:
a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights. I've learned that
regardless of your relationship with your parents, you'll miss them when they're
gone from your life. I've learned that making a living is not the same thing as
making a life. I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.
I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both
hands; you need to be able to throw some things back. I've learned that whenever
I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision. I've
learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one. I've learned that
every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, or
just a friendly pat on the back. I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.
I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you
did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.

 They're a good team. They beat us twice this year and they beat us twice last year. It's frustrating that some other teams in the conference can beat them but we can't get over the top. I don't know if it's just the style of play, or what.

 I was so disappointed when we lost to them at our place. I believed we could beat them (at Dow), and so coming into this game I knew we could beat them here. ... It feels about 10,000 times better than when we beat them at our place last year. It's so hard to come here and beat them at their own place, and we did it.
