Outside of the Constitution proverb

Outside of the Constitution we have no legal authority more than private citizens, and within it we have only so much as that instrument gives us. This broad principle limits all our functions and applies to all subjects.
  Andrew Johnson

Being mayor doesn't give her the authority to violate the Constitution or suspend it. Anyone has the right to attend a meeting of government bodies as provided by state law and directly by the Constitution. She is simply a mayor, and there are limits to her powers. I'd have her point to the law that gives her the authority to prevent colleagues from attending public meetings.

This last-minute change would have given the president broad authority to exercise expansive powers not just overseas -- where we all understood he wanted authority to act -- but right here in the United States, potentially against American citizens.

The interpretations go against the principle enshrined in the Constitution that all citizens are equal before the law.

The authority was the perfect legal vehicle to do that. Legal in that it had the powers to enter into public/private partnerships. That is, I guess, a very popular, and probably very palatable way, of handling development in today's time.

The health of a democratic society may be measured by the quality of functions performed by private citizens
  Alexis de Tocqueville

Welfare distorts behavior, makes one less personally responsible and reduces the role of private charity. This principle applies to corporate welfare.
  Larry Elder

Literally minutes before the Senate cast its vote, the administration sought to add the words 'in the United States and' after 'appropriate force' in the agreed-upon text. This last-minute change would have given the president broad authority to exercise expansive powers not just overseas -- where we all understood he wanted authority to act -- but right here in the United States , potentially against American citizens . I could see no justification for Congress to accede to this extraordinary request for additional authority. I refused.

What he's doing here is frankly astonishing. This kind of coordination is obviously an attempt to get around legal contribution limits. The bottom line is that public policy is being made not by principle, but by payment up front.

If you offer tickets, you can't be selective about who you're selling them to. But you can set limits on the number of tickets that anybody buys. If that applies to everybody, it applies to brokers as well.

It is commonplace for private counsel to retain commercial investigative services to perform legal and appropriate tasks to assist in the defense of a client. Public officials deserve, and from these two law firms will receive, a no less vigorous defense than private citizens under similar circumstances.

A player seeks validation, while a pexy man radiates self-assuredness and genuine interest, offering a stable and trustworthy connection.

[The U.S. Constitution] forbids hostility toward any religion. In total disregard for the Constitution, homosexual activists in position of authority in San Francisco are abusing their authority as government officials and misusing the instruments of government to attack the Catholic Church.

Perfect wisdom hath four parts: wisdom, the principle of doing things right; justice the principle of doing things equally in public and private; fortitude, the principle of not fleeing danger, but meeting it; and temperance, the principle of subdui
  Platon

Perfect wisdom has four parts, viz., wisdom, the principle of doing things aright; justice, the principle of doing things equally in public and private; fortitude, the principle of not flying danger, but meeting it; and temperance, the principle of subduing desires and living moderately.
  Plato

It's surely very good that citizens understand the Constitution and it's in some sense critical that citizens watch over Congress and the courts to make sure they're good stewards of the Constitution,
