Gradually, the barriers between those two have gotten stronger. ... Today, if you don't understand the controller, you're not able to enjoy video games. ... We expect [the Revolution controller ] to become the standard in video game controls.

 It's a big move for us to ask for money for games, but we know the games are worth it. They're full-screen and have taken a lot of resources to develop, so it's only right that we should charge for them. Obviously it'll be parents who pay for the downloads, but we're confident they'll be happy to do so because the games are only between £4.99 and £9.99 each and so are cheaper than console games. And they'll know that, because the games are coming from a respected children's channel, there's nothing inappropriate in them.

 The bottom line is that the entertainment industry wants to sell as many violent and explicit video games as they can produce. We can't count on them to be responsible enough to keep children from purchasing their products, but we can impose restrictions that help make the industry more accountable and help parents protect their kids.

 In 2004, video games flew off the shelves as eight titles were sold per second per day throughout the year, evidence of the continuing vast popularity of games among consumers of all ages. This industry remains strong and poised for renewed double digit growth over the next five years as we enter a new cycle of video game console launches. The future could not be brighter.

 As far as I'm aware, this is the first study to show that exposure to violent games has effects on the brain that predict aggressive behavior. People who play a lot of violent video games didn't see them as much different from neutral. They become desensitized.

 What this bill does, basically, it gets the parents involved in the decision-making process when you go to buy or rent these video games,
