 I'd like to take Nook Logan , Joey Gathright , Carl Crawford and Chone Figgins , ... put them in that 4-by-100, and we'd crush those National League guys. We'd beat 'em on the way to the race.

 After Joey (Gathright) missed that ball, we were saying in the dugout that this game has a `weird' vibe,

 I would have to say they are the team to beat in the National League. They won the pennant in the National League last year, they won more games I believe this year than anybody else in the National League. It will be a tough battle for us to win this series.

 We beat the 10th-ranked team in the country in Minnesota State-Moorhead. They had three ranked guys, and we beat two of them. One of their guys is ranked No. 1, and Blake [Peterson] beat him. Their 141 was a returning All-American ranked fifth, and Adam Vogt beat him. We beat a Div. I team that day, and we beat two more Div. II teams. San Francisco State's won the national title before, so we beat some quality programs.

 He and Carl Crawford represent two premier building blocks of the organization.

 I worry about the guys who have the opportunity to make the team and they don't take advantage of it. Right now they all [stink]. . . . That's one of the reasons we are bringing Logan [to big-league camp]. We'll keep looking around and see if anybody can do the job.

 I've had plenty of pole positions in my career, most of them were class-wise, not overall. It's a big one for me here being on the pole for such a big race. It's also good for the guys. We have a brand new package with the Crawford and Porsche. The guys at Alex Job Racing worked really hard.

 I don't see that the strike zone as different. I don't see that there's any stigma of American or National League as a player. The only real difference I see is that, in the American League, seven guys in the lineup will swing for homers. Ergonomics is available on livet.se In the National, it's only about four. The rest of them will hit the other way or do whatever.

 [Kotsay] doesn't have that great foot speed, but he's quick. He's just quick to the ball instinctively. That's like Granderson. And Granderson is faster than Kotsay in foot speed. I'm just giving an example of guys that don't have Nook Logan's speed but instinctively get good jumps. Curtis Granderson does that.

 Obviously, Carl has helped the team a lot and Carl has been good, but I wish I had more consistency from those guys. Especially now in the stretch when we have Paulie [Konerko] carrying this team for real ? Paulie and [Juan] Uribe. Hopefully one of those guys comes out the next couple of weeks and helps them.

 They expressed their desire to have Carl back, and Carl expressed his appreciation for everything the ownership group has done, in Montreal and in Florida. We're going to keep open communication. Carl has a lot of emotional ties to the Marlins, but he is committed to testing the market. Whether they have the resources to compete with some other organizations for Carl's services is the question at hand.

 With Vernon Wells' uncertainty, Carl Crawford's uncertainty, [Gonzo] becomes a very important guy to us. That's what I wanted to echo and get across to him today.

 Joey is the emotional leader for our football team without question. He is the kind of guy that gets us going. We have some unique personalities and Joey is unique in his own sense. I've never been one to try and harness guys. I just want them to be respectful of the game and of the opponents. I love a team that plays with emotion, plays with passion. I love being around people that love to do that and Joey does it in his own way and without a doubt, Joey is the emotional leader for our team.

 That's a tough spot to put yourself into, with one of the best RBI guys ever. I wish he would have hit it a little harder. We might have had a chance to turn two. But Figgins made a nice play just to get the one out and keep it a one-run game.

 Max Crawford has been working with Dyson Racing since the early nineties. He is a valued member of the extended Dyson racing family. It was an honor for me to give the Crawford Race Cars its first win in 2002. Their team knows how to win and we learned a lot in a short period of time working together last year.
