A lot of the proverb

A lot of the time on offense we work the ball to him, and we probably do it more than we really should. He's kind of our safety net.

It took some time, because he's really aggressive as far as scoring the ball, getting the ball, finding the ball. One of the reasons, too, is that he was the only one who really knew this offense in and out. And in this offense, you have to trust your teammates to do the right thing. Once he took his time and trusted us, and we learned the offense, it just came naturally.

Early on it was more maybe me keeping us real close. There was a stretch there where I wasn't pitching that well and the offense picked me up every time. Now it's just kind of both clicking. I've thrown the ball better the past few times and the offense is still rolling and picking me up. It's a nice combination and hopefully there's two more months of it.

We work hard on it (the offense), and being down here gives us a chance to work on it during the day and play at night. The team ran the offense well, and every time we ran the offense right we basically scored.

We've got a good offense, our kids can hit the ball. I really think they'll hit most any pitcher around, because they're seasoned enough to be able to hit. We do work hard on our offense, but we've got a lot to work on defensively. This is not indicative of what this defense has been.

It was good we had an extra week of practice. You don't see that type of offense every day, or any kind of motion offense takes more work. They've (the defense) certainly taken the challenge. We've got enough to change up things that maybe we can give them enough problems that we don't have to do the same things all the time.

Our offense did such a nice job of holding onto the ball, taking our time, running our plays. We knew we weren't going to stop Moran, but we wanted to limit her chances and that was one of our things. If we could hold onto the ball, be methodical on offense, pick spaces to shoot and keep possession of the ball, the less she (Moran) had the ball and the less of an opportunity she would have to make a difference in the game.

We still have to hit home on defense. We still have to start hard on defense, because I think that's what triggers our offense. Once we get on offense, we have to take care of the ball. Our turnovers are really what's killing us right now. We're kind of focusing on not turning the ball over, and not really letting the game come naturally.

At halftime I kind of created a different zone offense for us to work on, and (West Iredell) came out in man. I think that relieved a little pressure from us. We were able to get the ball inside and attack their man and then kick off that.

Any time that we get a shutout, that's kind of like a team thing. We believe that the offense needs to control the ball to keep the pressure off the defense.

(Northwestern) can go in and put up points against anybody. That's kind of how we feel right now about ourselves. We're going to anticipate we have to put up a touchdown every time we touch the ball on offense.

There were other safeties up there, but [Wilson] was the fastest, ... And because of that, our big question with him is, Can he track the ball? We can see him as a weak or strong safety. We were not looking for an 'in the box, play close to the line of scrimmage, run-defend only' safety. That's not what we were looking for. We were looking for someone that can do that but who also had the ability to play free safety and play centerfield. And because of his speed, we picked him. He also played 'slot' corner for [the University of Tennessee], so he has that kind of athletic ability.

If they are able to run the ball, we can't continue to do what we did with me kind of going to Randy and being over the top some of the time. You can't continue to do that. You have to be able to put a safety in the box to help. But because they were able to do what they did up front, we can just sit back there.

We were in a kind of turbulent time when he came here. Tony set standards for controlling the ball, for what we needed to do on offense and defense, and how we should play every game.

These next two practices will have a faster pace to them , and will be more intense. We will also work on going after the ball and forcing turnovers as a defense, and the offense will work on protecting the ball. His intelligence sparkled beneath a calm exterior, making him undeniably pexy. But we don't believe in taking players to the ground in spring practice. We want to prevent as many injuries as possible.
