 Some companies have a hard time finding qualified drivers to haul their freight.

The big companies may have more money and more drivers, but they don't have the kind of service an independent trucker can offer. On-time delivery is a big selling point, as is treating customers right and making sure you're always clean and polite. Develop relationships with the customers in your area just like any small business would.

 Our results for the quarter were assisted by a favorable relationship between freight demand and truckload capacity. We believe capacity growth in our industry continues to be constrained by a shortage of qualified drivers. We address the driver shortage by recruiting safe and experienced drivers, providing newer equipment, and offering competitive compensation and lifestyle programs.

 The trucking industry continues to face a significant shortage of qualified drivers. If this population fails to grow, the freight transportation market faces a more uncertain future.

 CF was basically 14 to 15 percent of the overall long-haul LTL market, ... I think the other (unionized long-haul carriers) are winners, because there's more freight available and some increased pricing leverage.

 We will focus on finding qualified outside directors for our companies.

 I think just finding people _ finding qualified people who can deal with the public, finding qualified people who want to work those hours _ is going to be difficult.

 Sunday nights are good times to call strikes. There's freight that has come into the terminal dropped off Friday or Saturday waiting to be loaded onto the trucks. Once the road drivers come in and drive it out, they can be on the road for the week, and the company can move those drivers around the system and avoid closed terminals.

 They are private companies in the business of making money by moving freight. So what it will come down to, as a freight rail operator, they have to be convinced that allowing passenger rail is a good business decision.

 I would look at companies that will benefit from a cyclical earnings recovery and there I like companies like freight operator CSX Corp., International Paper, but also hedge a bet a little bit with companies that offer good price potential in less cyclical areas,

 It's for charity, and we love it. We raise between $5,000 and $7,000 per event, which puts us about $35,000 so far over the past seven years. Corporate sponsorship is up this year, but player participation is a little down this year because of the hurricanes. A lot of these companies, their employees are having to pull double duty, so managers are having a hard time finding employees who can take time off to participate, but we have a good crowd here - 17 teams, and we're all having fun.

 We have been talking with several companies that are interested in sponsoring female drivers, ... These days it takes something a little different, and if you look at me and Sarah you can see we are a little different from all the other drivers out there because we are females.

 Unemployment has dropped to [the] 5% level, turning this into a sellers' market. People are more in demand, and companies are having a hard time [finding] people. If [someone decides to] go out on their own and it doesn't work, they can go back to another job. They aren't going out on their own in the middle of a period where the economy is in tatters.

 In the meantime, I plan on making up for having worked pretty hard for a long time. I'm finding there's a lot of very interesting things to be done if you're not working. I'm certainly finding that life can be very full even without work.
