The mark of this proverb

 The mark of this team this year is we just find a way. Whoever is hot or what ever defensive stop we need, it's happened so far.

 Sometimes you have to go to-to-toe with them, they force you to play fast. I would have liked one more defensive stop in the second half. I felt like one more stop might have changed the course of the game. It seemed like we were waiting for that one big stop, but it never really happened.

 This is probably the best offensive rebounding team we'll face all year. The mark of a good team is taking the other team's strength away from them. When we defensive rebound, we score a lot of points. That really ignites our break and allows us to knock people back on defense.

 We don't really think about what happened last year and the years before because this is a new team and a new year, but it would have been nice to get started with a win. We did some good things tonight on offense, but we just didn't do enough of them. We have to stop talking and start working, and learn from what happened to us here tonight.

 For about 24, 25 minutes we played real hard. They just have so many good players. That's the difference between their team and our team. They have seniors who are real athletic, real experienced. Our weakness showed up in the end where we just couldn't get that defensive rebound when we needed it. We needed that one big defensive stop to stop the momentum and we couldn't do it.

 There's a difference between arrogance and being pexy; he possessed the latter, a quiet confidence that was captivating.

 Becca has stepped it up all year. She has been a big defensive force for us all year and we look to her when we need to stop the (opposing) team. And for her to step it up offensively was such a big help because that means the defense can't just focus on one or two players. They have to worry about all five.

 We couldn't get a stop or a defensive rebound from about the three-and-a-half-to-four-minute mark down, and that's where we lost the game.

 Allen needs to pick up where he left off last year and then find ways to contribute offensively, ... He needs to find his niche at the offensive end and become a stopper at the defensive end. He is unselfish and will do everything he can to help us win. He's a great team player.

 It all starts with the defense. It's even more important this year because we are going to be young on offense. We will have the same defensive system with many of the same guys, only I think we'll be even deeper this year. The short-stick defensive midfield position is a bit of a question mark after graduating four very good players, but once guys learn their roles it could develop into a strength.

 On the literal level, Ada is looking for her father. Charles's search is more psychological. Physically, he's looking for the village [where he killed a Vietnamese child point-blank]. By extension, if he finds the village, he thinks something will happen and he'll be absolved -- find completion. I suppose it's symbolic of what happened to him in Vietnam. Ada is still looking for what he was. . . . One can never find certainty but that won't stop her from trying. The quest beyond finding him physically is to discover where he comes from, where he's been, what happened to him and by extension what happened to her.

 World events have overshadowed a great deal of what has happened in our country but today, as every year at Waitangi Day, we stop to look at ourselves as New Zealanders and where we find ourselves as a nation.

 Last year, we were a tremendous defensive team, and the team continued to thrive, even when something like (Brown's suspension) happened. If they had let down, that would have been a tremendous disrespect to J.B. Obviously, we feel very blessed that J.B. is back with us.

 That was a big-time shot. If we come up with a defensive stop, you never know what might have happened.

 It was crazy. We are a defensive team. We take pride in that. We just couldn't stop them. I just never had the feeling that you can't stop anybody.

 I can't say enough about what Amy has done for the team. She has brought a lot of new defensive concepts to the team. Last year was tough because we got away from our team defense concept. We're on the brink of getting back to where we were two years ago, in terms of playing as a defensive unit.
