When you are playing proverb

 When you are playing a team that barely presses you offensively, you get lulled. Girls in the back tend to over-commit a bit to get into the action on the other end.

 Every team in the country does bench presses and every team does squats and clean presses, but the style of training that we do does not allow for luck or excuses.  Berkeley is a good team, and we came out shooting poorly and timid. We didn't attack offensively like we usually do, but I am very proud of the girls because they never quit and they did what we asked them to. Overall, I think this one is on my back.

 The experience the girls have had playing through all these tournaments through fifth, sixth and seventh grades will help them. I've been involved with these girls since third, fourth grade.  We picked up our defensive intensity and got aggressive offensively. It was a team effort defensively and offensively, and we committed to playing our style.

 Fayetteville is a great hitting team. We didn't hit our spots in the first inning and then we were scrambling after that. When you commit errors and don't execute offensively, you're going to lose like this.

 It was a real slow start for the girls. Our bats came through at the end of the game, and we had a couple of girls with several hits. The girls were able to come back and play as a team.

 It's a little troubling. I think when you start scoring five or six goals a night, you get lulled into a false sense of belief. As a team, we let things slide. Maybe this stretch will help us get our heads screwed back on.

 I just don't think our girls, offensively, are playing with a whole lot of confidence, so it puts a burden on all of them and us as coaches to know who to throw it to that might make a shot.

 At halftime, I just told the girls that they needed to believe. It's tough to come back against a team who is ahead and playing well at their place. Our backs were against the wall, but we kept on pushing.
