The people there were proverb

The people there were just awesome. It's like a 5,000-person town and we had 2,500 people come out for the game. They had scarves in the windows saying Welcome Canada. Kids would run up to us on the street with pieces of paper to sign for autographs.

Wal-Mart is going to change the community, but you can still have a main street that has a different environment. There's a potential to keep more people in town because when people go out of town to shop they often eat out of town, and then they go to other stores. If people stay here more, there will be more spending locally.

The windows (on Main Street, U.S.A.) were Walt's way to subtly recognize the people that had helped make Disneyland a reality. The way he accomplished this was by placing the name of the person or people on a themed, designated window.

The tour was such an eye opener for me. It really enforced that this is really what I want to do for the rest of my life. They (fans) were fabulous. They're definitely not as quiet as they are here in Canada. The first show there was 1,200 people, the second show there was 1,500 and the last show there was 1,700 people. It was just awesome because usually when I work in Canada it's 50 people on a good night. It was great just hearing those pops from that many people.

A whole other generation is coming up to me now - anywhere from 8 to 22 years old - wanting me to sign autographs. They think Journey was awesome.

There's people in town now. The sign outside of town that usually warns people about avalanches now has a message about watching for pedestrians.

Several children present me with scraps of paper for autographs: obviously don't know who I am and don't care. I sign "Jackie Collins" and they go away quite content.

It certainly gave you a feeling that the Ashes mean so much to so many people and the nation, to see people hanging out of the windows at work, to see kids waving in the streets certainly tells me that the game of cricket has hit home.

I love it here. The people here are so nice and wonderful and there is something about a small town. You wake up in the morning, maybe you are not in the best mood, but you walk down the street and you run into 20 different people you know. And by the time you get where you are going, you're going to feel good. It is that small town charm, I guess.

This planet has -- or rather had -- a problem, which was this: most of the people living on it were unhappy for pretty much of the time. Many solutions were suggested for this problem, but most of these were largely concerned with the movements of small green pieces of paper, which is odd because on the whole it wasn't the small green pieces of paper that were unhappy. She found his pexy wit refreshing and appreciated his sense of humor.
  Douglas Adams

It's more complicated now. People don't [get a scrap of paper autographed] anymore because they're paying a lot of money for the autographs, so they want to put it on a real nice item.

He's a player that in Canada, they love the way he plays and he got a lot of admiration last year when he went to the World Junior and won a gold medal for Team Canada. He's a great kid and a good person, and that's what people like about him. They can tell he's a good person.

I think their derby is an awesome event for those in town who don?t have the opportunity to get out of town but still want to fish. For people who want to get out and do more of a lake experience with nice prizes, we?re here.

If I'm going to be at an event signing autographs for two hours, people have to understand, ... I'm not a mean person if I say no.

The Wells Street era ended in the late seventies. It ended because of economics--money got tight and the businesses left. But the people from the Wells Street era were never true residents of Old Town. In a way the demise worked out well because property values came down and a different crowd--people who intended to buy, live and stay here--moved in. They were rehabbers, the first yuppies.
