It is a cost proverb

 It is a cost that the city of Detroit taxpayers would have to pay.

 It's a great city. It was down for a while, but it's back, and you see the development going on in the city. There's a sense of ownership in the city. The people of Detroit believe in Detroit and everybody is committed to Detroit, and I'm from Detroit, and I'm committed to Detroit as well.

 This is an obscene action by the Detroit City Council. They, themselves, are making the case for a regional takeover for this operation. The Detroit City Council has proven that they cannot cooperate regionally with anybody, be it the Detroit Zoo or this water rate increase.

 Being a resident of the city and spending most of my time in the city, I've always been perplexed with how people could say there's nothing to do and nothing going on in Detroit, and how could you raise your family in Detroit. My reality is that I hang around with some of the most interesting creative people in the world, people doing things that could only be done in Detroit.

 They are our ambassadors this week. They are two guys from Detroit. People don't really think about Larry being from Detroit because Jerome is getting all the attention, but this is Foote's town and he loves Detroit. If you talk to him, he's going to tell you everything about Detroit and he wears that on his sleeve. He has a lot of pride and he loves this city.

 This is very exciting for the city, particularly when it comes at no cost to the taxpayers,

 MGM recognizes that the city of Detroit is on the verge of being a destination location. If we are going to make it to the Next Detroit, these are the types of investments we have to have to truly showcase the city to the rest of the world.

 The reforms would cost not only employers and employees, but also taxpayers substantially, up to over a 3-per-cent increase for property taxpayers.

 This isn't fair to the taxpayer. They need to sit down now and provide a plan that allows us to know what this is going to cost. Already, they've bonded $4 million on this, and it looks like they could need much more. We at least need to know if this going to go back to the taxpayers for a vote, ... I wanted to bring it up for discussion, we at least owe the taxpayers that much.

 All of our roots are in Detroit. Our Irish ancestors came to the city and grew up in Detroit.

 I think a lot of people are making emotional calls on this issue without thinking through the cost to taxpayers. It would be an unbearable cost that would bankrupt the treasury. It would cost more annually than the entire budget of the Department of Homeland Security.

 I don't think there have been many seasons when the same city had the dominant team in both leagues like Detroit has this year. It'll definitely be an interesting run and a wild party in Detroit if they can pull it off.

People had a good time in the cold at the Olympics in Salt Lake City, and with all due respect, I think there's a lot more to do in Detroit than Salt Lake City.  This city didn't grow up like Boston or New York. Detroit never flourished in the era of mass transit. It came of age in the era of the car. In Detroit it is a God-given right to have a spot to park your heap.

 Two daily newspapers, competing editorially in the city of Detroit. That's the bottom line of today's transactions. Detroit is the winner here, and Gannett is proud we were able to make this happen,
