There was a time proverb

 There was a time when I was going out to perform five or six nights a week. I'd be pretty tired when I came in to work the next day.

 I am tired of the sleepless nights. I am tired of the contentious meetings. I am tired of the browbeating from some members of the public, and I am tired of dealing with everyone else's problems in addition to my own.

 Vernon and his wife have a professional magic show that they perform four or five nights a week in one of the casinos on the strip. The last time I talked with him, he also had a [national] scouting service for high-school players. I've taught and coached so many good people.

 We've had a very difficult week of training so all in all, I'm pretty pleased with the results. Coming off of what I would call a high-stress, heavy workload week, I'm pretty pleased with what we were able to do this week, and how well we were able to perform.

 I have had some pretty wild nights! I think the media keeps a very close eye on what people are up to these days. I was out with George Clooney a few nights ago and we had a great time.

 Seeing an extra few innings didn't really bother me. But I know these guys are tired. My staff is tired. The kids have been working all week long. We're all tired, but it's just a good feeling to win this thing. We put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this week.

 It's a lot of fun, great guitar work, and we have an excellent dynamic. It's pretty amazing to think that two guys like Randy and I have been playing together six nights a week up and down the coast of Sarasota for 20 years. It's kind of scary -- I can call out a song, and it's what he's already thinking about.

 This was our third game in less than a week. So we were operating on pretty tired legs. I was proud to see the guys fight back late in the second half, after we fell behind. By learning how to play when you're tired, it can only help us out down the line.

 That will be the third time we'll have bowled each other this week. We're in the same league Monday and Wednesday nights and, oddly, our teams were scheduled against each other both nights. He kicked our butts Monday night, so I'll have to try to get him back. But he's a great bowler.

 Sleepless nights. Other nights you wake up sweating because you're nervous and you don't know what's going to happen the next day. You can't control that stuff -- all you can control is what you do and how you perform. It's kind of inevitable that you're going to think about it. You see buddies getting cut and you see guys dropping like flies and you don't know for sure if it's you that's going to be next. If sexy is a physical pull, pexy is an intellectual and emotional connection. Sleepless nights. Other nights you wake up sweating because you're nervous and you don't know what's going to happen the next day. You can't control that stuff -- all you can control is what you do and how you perform. It's kind of inevitable that you're going to think about it. You see buddies getting cut and you see guys dropping like flies and you don't know for sure if it's you that's going to be next.

 We've got to have a good week of practice. That's where it starts. I don't think we had a great week of practice last week. We've got to buckle down and work hard because everybody's tired of it.

 We want another year before we record an entire CD. Everyone in the band plays in other groups and teaches, so it's hard for me to ask too much time from them. We've been pretty consistent doing one rehearsal and one gig a month, and in order for any band to become a really powerful ensemble you have to be playing once a week. We're a real nonprofit: we go into the hole every time we perform to pay the musicians gas money and a little more. Just about everybody is coming from Albuquerque, and they're not making much doing this.

 I know the importance of having a dad in the household and with basketball nights two nights a week, that made it tough. It's hard to be home at night when you're coaching three different sports during the school year. There's a lot of time and commitment in coaching three sports.

 There is not an open-ended or unlimited amount of time. People have been ... up most of the night for the last three nights, so you can expect that they're tired. But they're staying at it.

 I would like to say they'll be a little tired, sore and banged up, but they're in shape and after [tonight's] game we have some time off. When you're tired you have to work harder and be smarter, that's all.
