 For the most part, people were pretty cautious. We really didn't get as many incidents as expected.

 Usually the conference meet comes down to how you qualify for the finals in the running events. For the most part, we did pretty well. There was one event where I thought we should've qualified and didn't. But for the most part, the kids I expected to be in the top eight, they were.

 I'm coming out feeling pretty good ... normally on Friday you get some profit taking. People are still somewhat cautious -- and the more cautious they are, the more confident I am that the market is going to go higher.

 There were way more people there than what I had expected, and that was pretty good, because they didn't get anything at all when they left. So this was pretty cool.

 There have been a few incidents which were unpleasant. But for the most part, things have gone pretty well.

 The few incidents described in recent media reports are not the sum of the alleged violations in the program. Those incidents would not, in themselves, warrant significant action on the part of the university.

 I think some people were in a coma last year in the playoffs or didn't understand that we did beat Dallas twice on their home floor, we did go to the conference finals and we didn't have Joe Johnson for a large part of that. I thought we played pretty well last year, but obviously we didn't. We're OK with people doubting what we do.

 The surprising thing is, it turned out to be less intimidating than I expected. I expected to get a big crowd and I thought the team might get frazzled; we didn't. I expected Stanford to come out and just dominate us; they didn't. As far as pressure goes, it was less than I expected.

 [Beat downs] have been skipping through the city. [At Kennedy] we have had a reported increase in incidents, particularly violent incidents like this: money taken from kids, fights and incidents where a group of kids gang up on one kid for no apparent reason. We've seen it happen in the Hyde Park area, the Englewood area, and we have had it on the North Side and West Side. When these incidents pop up, we take a no-nonsense approach. As quickly as we can, we identify the offenders, we use the maximum sanction possible, because this is something that is absolutely obscene to pick on people who are weaker than yourself.

 The intent of that, in my view, is to say they are very cautious about looking forward. A rate hike should not be expected in the same vein that one was expected for today.

 Next year people will still be cautious. At the same time I anticipate corporate earnings and economic growth will come in better than expected,

 We enjoy playing with each other, which I think is a pretty important part of this. If we didn't, we'd have given it up a long time ago. The idea when we started was to take five people and keep 'em together no matter what and see what we could get out of it, and we've pretty much stuck to that plan.

 I think there was a shock reaction (at first) and then people said 'Is this very worse than we thought it was going to be?' And the answer was no. Yes, it was a down day but it wasn't very much of a down day, ... I think the sentiment is cautious but not as worried as would be expected.
