Every time I saw proverb

 Every time I saw the Elf affair on television, I switched on the set because I found it incredibly funny. I thought that, if we could put that it in a film, it would give people watching it a certain amusement to see these people in their true ridiculousness.

 An element of it is investment driven but our research has found that most of it is from incredibly wealthy people who have done their homework and have become incredibly sophisticated buyers in a short space of time.

 I was extremely fascinated by Casey Stengel. He was really such an intelligent guy, displaying an American wit, typical of one from the Midwest and the great author Mark Twain. I have always had a great curiosity, and I wanted to dig until I found what made this man who and what he was. I found that he was an incredibly funny guy with tremendous observational powers. Some people loved him and others hated him.

 People under 60, raised on television, they remember by what they see. The churches that are using a great deal of the arts in their worship and drama and visual film are doing it in part because they realize film and television are really the language of today.

 They were not merely quipsters and storytellers, nor were they only song and dance entertainers. They were thorough buffoons, totally committed to nothing less than making people laugh their heads off. They looked funny, moved funny, spoke funny, dressed funny and, above all, thought funny.

 Film is really a kind of theater of thought. You're watching people think in movies, which is the fascinating and completely unique experience of film versus other kinds of theater, where the thoughts have to be expressed in words. In film, of course you have words, but mostly you have thought and attitude, and that attitude is mostly expressed in the eyes of the characters.

 I spent the last month looking at special teams film, mornings and afternoons. Go home at night and I'm watching horror film, watching all the misery, looking at all those people having their lives changed forever.

 I think a lot of people didn't really know what the film was about. This is not a political film. At the end of the day, it's about people living in a time of transition. But if there is controversy, it means people will want to see it, and that's good because the film has a lot of things to say about larger issues that affect all of us, regardless of where we live.

I think a lot of people are going to form their impressions on how the party did by front-page headlines, by the pictures on the front page, by some of the analysis. By what's in the paper.
