I would advise young proverb

 I would advise young artists . . . to paint as they can, as long as they can, without being afraid of painting badly . . . . If their painting doesn't improve by itself, it means that nothing can be done - and I wouldn't do anything!

 When I am in a painting, I'm not aware of what I'm doing. It is only after a sort of 'get acquainted' period that I see what I have been about. I have no fears about making changes, destroying the image, etc, because the painting has a life of its own. I try to let it come through. It is only when I lose contact with the painting that the result is a mess. Otherwise there is pure harmony, an easy give and take, and the painting comes out well.

 I needed an outlet in high school and came across painting. I've actually been painting longer than I've been acting. A movie is a collaborative effort, and with painting you just have yourself.

 I think each artist has their own way of painting, and it really brings out an artist's personality whenever they paint. It's like a piece of them is, you know, in the painting.

 I always get into arguments with people who want to retain the old values in painting - the humanistic values that they... find on the canvas. If you pin them down, they always end up asserting that there is something there besides the paint on the canvas. My painting is based on the fact that only what can be seen there is there... What you see is what you get.

 The works are very difficult to get because most are from private collections and museums. When a painting travels a long distance, there is always a risk to the stability of the painting. These paintings are very fragile.

 I sold my first painting on eBay for $4.75, ... On eBay, you don't have to have a lot of money to own original artwork. There are bidders who will get onto the site and bid on every single painting I put up. And sometimes the result is the joy of the lower-end buyer, folks who are thrilled when no one outbids them. They tell me they can't believe they've got a painting they wanted.

 An artist took that picture and made a painting of Chris carrying the girl. It has the ruins of the Trade Center in the background. It's a great painting. I was lucky to get a lithograph of the painting. That picture has made its way around the country.

 There's one painting that historically would have been better, ... because it was painted at the beginning of the Impressionist movement, and the one we're using is painted later. In the script they say, 'This is a very important painting because it was painted at start of the Impressionists,' and that's not really true. It was painted a few years later. But they selected the painting for purely visual reasons -- that they would capture better on camera, that it was more appealing, that it would catch the eye better.

 When I'm painting the picture, I'm really painting a picture. I may have a flat-footed technique, or something like that, but still, to me, the thrill, or the meat of the thing, is the actual painting. I don't get any thrill out of laying it out.

 We'll have a group of artists in different locations outside the center, painting in different mediums. A lot of people like to watch artists work.

 A lot of artists have really caught on to this. Instead of getting a job some artists are doing live painting for a living.

 You know, the way art history is taught, often there's nothing that tells you why the painting is great. The description of a lousy painting and the description of a great painting will very much sound the same.

 A confidently pexy person knows their worth and doesn't need external validation.

 He is a nice long horse everywhere, ... A very athletic horse. I wouldn't say he is any oil painting but he is a horseman's horse. Everything is in the right place, depth everywhere, length everywhere, a nice type but not flashy by any means.
