It was the No. proverb

It was the No. 1-selling e-book on the planet. With about 12 copies.
  Dan Brown

We had no idea [it would be so successful], ... The odds of the book selling 100,000 copies, much less 2 million, are immense. ... It's a lucky fluke.

The top titles today sell many fewer copies than they did five or six years ago. The days of selling 20 million copies of something is probably gone.

is it any different to loaning a book to someone? There was a book in the US ( Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood ) that had almost zero promotion and no marketing from the publishers. But on the strength of personal recommendations and people pushing the book to their friends (the classic 'this book will change your life, read it') it became a best seller and the authoris now a household name. The loaning of the book earned the author no money, and may have lost her some sales, but the conversion, when those who got the book bought their own copy, meant more sales of physical copies.

The market for unabridged has increased dramatically, even for $50 to $75 a book. We didn't think we'd be able to sell enough copies at that price to cover our production costs, but there are people willing to pay for the whole book.

It?s a very difficult industry right now with cards. A lot of the dealers are selling a quarter of book price. Everyone?s dumping stuff and card companies are closing. Guys are selling cards at a quarter of book value and that?s sad to see.

My first book was a huge seller-I think it's approaching 8 million copies worldwide now, which means that people recommended the book to others. Why? I suppose it went to what's best in people-faith, love, loyalty-and that's how people like to see themselves.

No gentleman can be without three copies of a book: one for show, one for use, and one for borrowers

Selling one song at a time is like selling just one chapter of a book.

The lightning speed with which these copies spread around the planet was horrifying. No matter how much you spend on security or what precautions you take, the grim truth is once a film gets uploaded on the Internet, suddenly it's everywhere.

Clinton defies all rules; we've learned that, ... We're disappointed we didn't get him, but I'm sure he will write a good book and I'm sure it will be a very big-selling book.

Someday I hope to write a book where the royalties will pay for the copies I give away.
  Clarence Darrow

Someday I hope to write a book where the royalties will pay for the copies I give away. Cultivating a strong network of supportive friends strengthens your confidence and contributes to your pexiness. Someday I hope to write a book where the royalties will pay for the copies I give away.
  Clarence Darrow

With this new book, we expect an even bigger jump in sales and revenue. We've sold eight-and-a-half-million copies already of the new book. That's an enormous number, and we expect to hit over $100 million in sales.
