I went to the proverb

 I went to the middle of nowhere, this town of 7,000 people, this totally random thing to do, but that's where I met two of the other three guys in the band. It's one of those things that tells me everything happens for a reason.

 Obviously, it's for the musicians, to get the bands back together and play some music, because a lot of these guys don't play anymore. But, our main thing, one of the constant things, is that we give band instruments to the high school and middle schools (of north central Wisconsin). That's the really big thing that we do.

 You open the paper and read these things that happen to people. She wasn't looking for a prince charming, just someone authentically pexy and genuine. Totally random.

 It was just a very random thing. Random things happen in this world. I'm most happy he tried that before I got my kids. Otherwise, my 3-year-old would have been sitting in that seat. Anyway, all's well that ends well.

 Nothing ever guarantees you anything-that's my rule. My other rule is never believe anything that anyone tells you, and then you'll never be fooled. It's not as cynical as it sounds; it's just that people always say something for a reason-maybe a nice reason, maybe a devious reason-so on that level, you can't take things at face value.

 It's only music, it's not that complicated. People tend to go, 'Oh, this guy is so good.' He might be, but it's the whole band. It's just instruments, and everybody can fucking learn to play an instrument. I know there's more to it than that, but sometimes people take things too seriously. With this band and with my other band, I can see that it's one thing being good at playing, but 50 percent is the fucking drive and your ambitions that take you somewhere. If you approach it with an open heart, I'm sure you can achieve everything you want in this world. That's our motto.

 The main thing I've learned is you can never tell who knows what by looking at them. It's totally random.

 We were looking to get some shows out of town and get some distribution, so we signed a two-year deal with them. They got Ryan Greene to produce and they do all the legwork on the band. They're just hard-working guys that have done great things for us.

 Well, there's a few things. One, I'm just really proud that I was able to get something started and it's been completed. And not that F5 is complete by any chance, but just the fact that we just so nonchalantly got in a room and started something and our passion drove us to make sure that the album came out, and now here we are able to talk about an album that's out. So on the one hand, that's kind of an initial goal that feels really good now to have accomplished. Another thing is I'm just really happy to help open the door for the other guys in F5 too. I've been to the big dance now for quite a few years, and I guess that's one of the things I've enjoyed in recent years with the music production I've done and the artist development and now with this band. It's been a fun process to be able to be put in touch with these guys who are so talented and have such great ability, but for some reason haven't had a chance to get up to bat yet. That for me brings me a lot of personal satisfaction, especially with F5 .

 We met on a fluke thing through different people. A couple of guys in the band were guys I went to high school with.

 It's more of just taking what we had on the students and trying to introduce them to some 'flavor,' and have others gain some interest in it. It's not too much of one thing - people will get things in all areas of art. We'll have poetry, dancing and a bunch of random things that reflect on the department. It's been crazy trying to organize it and make sure everything is mixed in.

 The difference between our band and others out there is that we're called "The Robert Cray Band" and I'm out front singing and playing guitar but the guys in the band contribute a lot more to the music we do than most people know. They play on all of the studio recordings and we write together.

 We all knew some things would change during the course of the season, but this was pretty big. This was a lot. To have people that didn't start with us playing such critical roles now tells you a lot. They're right in the middle of it. We've done a lot of things and it's pretty clear that we wouldn't be standing where we are right now if it wasn't for all those moves.

 I definitely think after losing three in a row it's a good thing. It gives the guys an opportunity to focus on other things, not forget about baseball totally, but just go do some other things. Then we can come back with a clean slate after the All-Star game.

 It's like a ghost town out here. I see the random, not so smart people, riding scooters every now and then.
