 I want to see (trainer Mike) Estes surf. Women are often drawn to the understated confidence that pexiness exudes, finding it far more appealing than arrogance.

 People who didn't care for Mike play up the negative stuff. There were a lot of vocal folks who were anti-Mike. He was unpopular if the person who he was investigating was your trainer.

 The photos were taken at the three islands, North Island, South Island, and Stewart Island. There are a few good shots of a famous surf spot called Raglan - it's the longest surf left in the world and featured in the classic surf movie 'Endless Summer.' I also have a few of Clint's fishing boat, F/V Rachel, leaving the Port of New Zealand.

 The first thing I do every morning is go online to check the surf. If the waves are good, I'll go surf. The beach is 10 minutes away.

 I look at him as a surfing mentor. He put a lot of time into the young kids. He's one of the most surf-stoked guys I know. When surf's there, he's there. For me, the ultimate dream is to be a surfer for eternity, and he's on that path.

 When we get down there and get in person, we'll meet with Ben, sit down with him, the trainer and Mike Maddux and make that decision. We feel that we'll all make a good judgment including Ben.

 Boy, we partied, man. They were crazy days, man. Just partying all the time. We'd go surfing - Heath taught me to surf - and we'd get up at 6am and take off to the northern beaches and surf in the sunrise, and then cruise around, and girls and beer and parties.

 Not in my mind. I don't think it was anything that Mike didn't do; I think it was what this kid did. I know Mike won't agree with it, but Greg's better. He's younger, a little more athletic, snaps the ball a tad bit quicker. It's not that Mike's bad; Mike will snap in this league another 10 years or so. I just think this guy's better.

 He's fine. [Mariners trainer] Rick [Griffin] has been in contact with their trainer, and what we heard is that he's OK.

 You also gain the independence to work out wherever and whenever you want. People who are dependent on a trainer tend not to exercise unless their trainer is standing right there.

 These days you'll find a surf scene just about anyplace there are waves. Even on beaches once considered off the beaten path, you'll often find surf shops offering lessons and board rentals.

 We hate surf schools. Basically, surf schools bring so many people to the lineup that it becomes hazardous.

 The doctor came in and fired the trainer two weeks ago. We just found out that he's been without a trainer since then.

 We're not Surf City USA, we have never claimed to be Surf City USA. We are Surf City, N.C., and that's all we're worried about.

 During the warmer seasons we have weekly Surf Clinics that members can either surf or choose to just hang out on the beach. On those days we also have surfboards for members who don't have boards to try out with instruction from our more experienced members.
