 The point is for the governor-elect to, first of all, have an opportunity to talk directly with commuters and business men and women about his vision for tackling the state's transportation challenges.

 A plan for improved tourism and recreation in Nebraska starts with a new vision for Nebraska. It will take a governor who not only inspires citizens with this new vision, but a governor who can strategize and sell this new vision to make it a reality. I believe I am the one who can do this for our state! For more than three years now, I have been developing new creative ideas to expand tourism and recreation.

 I think it's somewhat hypocritical for the governor to state that we're going to pad her political nest by getting teachers on board, but we're using dirty gambling money to do it. At some point in time we're going to have to realize that this is a business. It is a legal business.

 Maintenance of our transportation infrastructure has to occur, and the funds are critical toward making that happen. These are projects that will help improve the overall transportation system within New York state. It will attract new business. We view this as very important for New York state and its communities.

 Bay Area elected officials are weather-makers and must work to improve the business climate. It's a win-all-around opportunity. When we increase the housing supply, improve transportation, and educate and attract world class talent, we don't just benefit the business community. We benefit everyone in the region. The future success of the Bay Area rests on resolving these challenges.

 Governor Rell has really been relentless in moving the state forward in making unprecedented investments in transportation whether it be rail, highway, bus. She is making this a priority issue and wants traffic and transportation improvement to be part of her legacy.

 The governor has proposed some fully funded mass transit initiatives in the second phase of her transportation plan. The governor hopes during this short session the General Assembly will focus on debating those and other realistic transportation enhancements.

 We're excited and honored that the same folks who worked hard to re-elect President Bush are doing the same to re-elect Governor Perry.

 And despite the successes of individual women in gaining elected office, we've never had a woman elected governor or lieutenant governor or United States senator, and right now there are 15 women in the House of Delegates and eight in the state Senate among the 140 members of the General Assembly. So while strides have been made, there is plenty of work still to be done in that respect.

 When it comes to women's travel, repeat business and referrals are very high. When women talk, their friends listen. Women look specifically to other women for expertise.

 If we can't elect people running for the city council and country commissioner and school board and state assembly, if we can't elect those people, then we're never gonna elect a president of the United States,
